With Easter long gone + Spring just starting to spread it’s wings, makes pastels bigger definite go-tos for work + play. So imagine the size of my smile, when contacted by FARFETCH, one of my favorite online retailers, to participate in a competition of creating looks in some of Pantone’s beautiful pastels. Yet, as I promised myself this year, in wanting to address more menswear, I have created looks for both him + her, but gender fluid just the same.
Rose Quartz + Serenity, 2016 Pantone’s Colors of the Year will definitely be in the mix, but, for variety, I have added nude, mint + light blue looks, BUT not in that order.
These mint looks have a lot to say about her + him. For her, she can easily take this look from day to night in Greta Constantine’s fancy little top paired with Alexander Wang’s light denim maxi skirt, but for him, he can take risks in this long sleeveless, draped Rick Owen top.
With rose quartz, you can go all the way, like I did for him, but, for her, I just added enough of a sprinkle.
Serenity is a great color, as it borders on blue, but with a hint of lavender, making it extra special. For her, serenity felt perfect as a layer over a sequined bright yellow tank, whereas for him, why not wear wide tailored shorts in leather by ØDD.?
Nude is one of those pastels that has no season, yet super fun to mix + match with a range of colors.
Finally, blue is one of those pastels that screams Spring the most, as it just reminds you of the blue skies above.
