For Off-White’s designer Virgil Abloh, graphic tees are a ‘must’ in his wardrobe. Besides owning an insane amount, he considers graphic tees as the ‘most expressive format’ + who can blame him, as they can say so much about the wearer, devoid of any facial expression + can easily be dressed up or down.
Abloh had this to say about graphic tees in his recent interview with GQ:
‘To me, graphic T-shirts are the most important + most expressive format for a designer or a person. Your taste in graphic tees says a lot about your point of view. I look at them like a canvas, + what I make says tons about my point of view. It’s the genre of fashion I come from, + I love the challenge every season of exploring new, cool ways to make a graphic tee.’
Besides sharing my love for negative space, another thing I love about Off-White’s graphic tees are their sense of humor like this tee below, which features a small ‘OFF’ on the upper right front but then in the back, besides saying the usual ‘WHITE’ it reads ‘YOUTH WILL ALWAYS WIN’.
