A Paper Trail Worth Wearing

Dylanlex came to mind when I first saw these folkloric Mongolian costumes made entirely out of paper by artist Asya Kozina.  Based on the shapes + textures created, you would think they’re 3D printed masterpieces but instead, I think the Cricut (a Cricut is a personal DIY electronic craft cutting machine that cuts vinyl, paper, fabric + more) would be guilty here.  Then again, Kozina is just very intuitive on knowing how to make paper do what she wants it to do – Some might even call these wearable sculptures.

I love a lot of the soft details including feathers, petals or beads.  Then you have bigger + more rigid accents like shoulder pads + headdresses, balancing out the complete look.image

And why Dylanlex?  Well, like a lot of Dylanlex’s sick necklaces, these costumes look like they’re built layer by layer, using pieces from different places, until it all makes sense.
