Not one to embrace tradition myself, let alone get caught up in the bridal fashion frenzy (except for the final bride look in Haute Couture shows), saying your ‘I Do’s’ no longer obliges you to come packaged in meringue, embellished with tiny pearls, crystals + loads of lace. As I kept looking at all of resort for 2014, there were several standouts that could double as wedding dresses + appeal to every bride – from the bride that wants something unique, quirky + fun to something not quite ‘traditional’ but comes close.
There were pant looks from tight white + silver lame pants to a jumpsuit worthy of the bride getting married at 1am under colored lights + lots of smoke (row 1). Short numbers including one by Naeem Kahn dripping in long beadwork, for the bride that wants to make a statement (row 2) + channel the Twenties. A long-sleeved white button down shirt under a dress made of unfinished layers perfect for the Bushwick artist or wedding (row 3). Yet, for that bride that still wants to feel like a ‘bride’ in a slight traditional sense, there were some dresses substituting the full skirt with color + long flowing silhouettes (row 4).
