Isabella Blow IS Fashion Galore

With all things being punk lately, including the recent Met Gala for ‘Punk: Chaos to Couture’ exhibit, to bring up Isabella Blow, is not that much of a stretch.  Although not necessarily a punk herself, she was very much ‘anti-establishment’ by following her own rules on what to wear.  Luckily for those in London, the Isabella Blow Foundation + Central Saint Martins have organized ‘Isabella Blow: Fashion Galore!’, which will showcase more than 100 pieces from her collection.

Friend Daphne Guinness, the founder of the Isabella Blow Foundation, which raises money to promote fashion + encourage young + aspiring talent, as well as other charities that promote well being, told WWD, ‘This exhibition is, to me, a bittersweet event,’ + who can blame her.  Due to years plagued by depression, in 2007 Isabella took her own life + Daphne, obviously, did what any good friend would do – she purchased Blow’s wardrobe – who knows what plans others might have had, not understanding her or fashion.

Designers on display will, of course include McQueen + Treacy, but also at hand will be Jeremy Scott, Julien Macdonald, Viktor & Rolf, Fendi, Escada, Prada + Marni.  A show divided by themes, with one discussing her aristocratic background, early friendships with Treacy + McQueen, her cray cray collection of shoes + hats + her love of the British countryside, I expect visitors will get a true education in style + fashion.

Crossing my fingers, legs + eyes, this exhibit makes it our way, so us New Yorkers can get a sneak peek, into the ‘closet’ of one of fashion’s greatest.
