For his first Balenciaga resort collection, Alexander Wang took cues from Cristobal Balenciaga’s archives + added his own twist by toning everything down. Voluminous shapes, a Balenciaga signature, were scaled down like the bolero jacket below, paired with shorts (row 1, look 3). Another way the new volume was present, was in bandeau top accentuated by a flowing cascade of fabric, showing off the midriff then paired with tuxedo pants buckled at the ankle, giving them a slight harem effect (row 3, look 1). As far as accessories go, the hats + sandals were made of shredded vinyl, giving it that wonderful effect + interesting sheen, with a coiled wire strap. The bags also had the same coiled wire handles – great way to further tone things down + have fun.
