Wearable art, is sometimes used to describe garments that deserve reverence, due to their construction + or innovation, + rarely is it taken literally. Yet, for Romanian designer Lana Dumitru, her playful + witty take on the concept will make an art lover out of anyone. By applying hyper saturated digital prints of art by famous artists, including Rene Magritte + Georgia O’Keefe, on clothing with a sporty edge, makes Lana’s pieces from her F.C. Lana for Moja collection, highly desirable. Oh, + don’t worry about the pieces being overwhelmed by images – Lana was clever enough to balance out the design with houndstooth, one of this season’s trendy patterns.
F.C. Lana for Moja is a recreation of Lana’s own imaginary football team of artists which includes dresses, tops + reversible skirts. Dumitru cleverly adds the name of the artist in caps with a number, similar to a sports jersey. The houndstooth pattern then covers the backs of dresses, tops + some of the skirts, wristbands + collars.
Aren’t these tops + skirts just the best? I especially love the OKEE 7 (O’Keefe) top paired with the scissor skirt below (row 2).
