Some of us are lucky enough to take at least one vacation a year while the rest of us somewhat stew in our own fantasies of faraway places during the rote of our everyday. Yet, it is this lack of freedom to wander with abandon that makes this Sachin + Babi collection so perfect and desirable for Spring/Summer 2013.

Coupled with rock n’ roll confidence of the 60’s + 70’s, designer Sachin Ahluwalia managed to interpret the migrant lifestyle through various silhouettes worthy of any woman ready to be transported to an exotic getaway or her next ‘adventure’ (albeit for work or play). There were many ruffles on hand to give this woman an air of elegance, with an occasional casual flair like the crochet tops above paired with skirts, accompanied by short jackets for that sporty feel or heightened for elegance under a sheer black long-sleeved top.

Texture also played a key role in the collection with the presence of different textiles including flowing chiffon and silk appliqué multi-layer embroidered tulle (red skirt above). A few of the looks were punctuated with crystal and metal disc detail like the short skirt and sleeveless button-down shirt above and these amazing white trousers below.

Designer Ahluwalia said of the S/S13 collection, ‘This collection is for a woman who isn’t afraid to travel to far away places and allow herself to become truly immersed in new cultures,’ which is definitely obvious in this boho chic expedition of expression.
