Atelier Kikala highlights one of my favorite trends of the season – sheer accents. Part of the SS/2015 collection, according to the brand, it is ‘inspired by nature, with each piece perceived as a new object of desire + a new concept of luxury. The modern world becomes more industrialized; there is a struggle for survival. Desire to replace resources that expire, is now normal for the human, + the way of life that was written in science fiction books is already here,…’
Like all of its pieces, the Geometric Dress above is handmade. Bold, black + blue whole + half circles, piled on top one another, decorate a sheer panel of blue.
This Handmade White Dress, with embroidery inspired by the flora + fauna of the ocean, beauty + serenity is recreated. Laying on top of a sheer white shift dress, more fragility is accomplished by placing it under a longer sheer column dress. The designer says, ‘White leaves remind us water plants at the ocean.’
And what’s not to love about this Handmade Skirt, made of light pink fabric + white netting? Nothing beats versatility with a piece like this, which would look great with either heels or kicks!
