I’m all in when it comes to shimmer + Alber Elbaz apparently is too. For the Lanvin Spring 2014 collection, there were all the colors of the rainbow shining LED bright, on various textures including lamés, tweeds, laces + brocades. Everything from drop waist, sheaths + long dress looks to androgynous bespoke nods to YSL, as well as the utilitarian looking jumpsuit, elastic waist included, just sparkled down the catwalk.

Dayuuum…Rick Owens turned it out in Paris! Wish I could’ve been there to experience it for myself. Using two step teams, from American sororities instead of models, to show his spring collection, was not only cool beyond words but definitely one for the books + super unique. These chicks were locked up + mean muggin’ like Maori warriors, commanding respect + making it known who’s really in charge!
What a great way to celebrate both racial + body diversity, something the fashion world has been having difficulty in doing for a long time now. Hopefully this sense of cool resonates loud + proud + we get to see more of it in the future. I won’t hold my breath for that one, but, you never know.

For #ThrowbackThursday, here’s a look back at Steven Meisel’s amazing GIFs for Vogue Italia’s ‘Haute Mess’ cover story (March 2012 Issue). Love the excess of pop culture labels + embellishments interlaced with street culture beauty looks. Featuring everyone’s top models –
Abbey Lee Kershaw
Joan Smalls
Daphne Groeneveld
Lindsey Wixson
Karen Elson
Jessica Stam
Guinevere van Seenus
+ Coco Rocha.

Yes, it’s true – someone was kind enough to leak a slew of images from the Isabel Marant For H&M collection set to drop Nov.14th on The Fashion Spot. While I have my heart set on the booties, beaded jacket + embroidered jeans, almost anyone will tell you that the footwear will be the first items to sell out. So be sure to mark your calendars + consider starting your holiday list early.
Enjoy!

Barney’s New York has done it again in collaborating with a heavyweight for the holidays but this time, they’ve enlisted the help from someone a lot closer to home, Shawn ‘Jay Z’ Carter (a native New Yorker). The promotion, called ‘A New York Holiday’, has Jay Z collaborating with several top designers + influential indie brands to create a collection of limited-edition holiday products. Some of the limited-edition holiday products include Balmain’s black square print scarf for ‘A New York Holiday’
Balenciaga’s black leather backpack

Even the shopping bags are getting Jay Z’s midas touch (shown above), designed in collaboration with Sagmeister & Walsh. Among the other participating labels who collaborated with Jay Z are Lanvin, Proenza Schouler, Rick Owens + Moncler, to create custom holiday items. The store will be called BNY SCC Gallery (short for Barneys New York + Shawn Corey Carter, respectively), as a nod to his recent performance art film, ‘Picasso Baby’.
Set to drop Nov. 20, the collection also includes a hoodie from Rick Owens, a tailored jacket from Lanvin + a black leather duffel with faux crocodile trim from Proenza Schouler. Jay Z told WWD that the slickness, energy + innovation of New York City taken by himself + Barneys NY were translated into quality, timeless pieces. ’Everything that encompasses ‘A New York Holiday’ — the items chosen, the amazing designers that participated, the windows, the design of the BNY SCC Gallery — represents a perfect example of a unique and groundbreaking collaboration that I hope demonstrates how inspiring New York has been to me,’ added Jay Z.
‘A New York Holiday’ collection will go on sale from Nov. 20 through Jan. 3, at Barneys flagships as well as on barneys.com. But if you’re one not into the holidays, just think of how you can contribute to a worthy cause as with each purchase from this collection, twenty five percent of the sales go to the Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation.

Love Sky Ferreira’s new video for ‘You’re Not The One’, the lead single on her debut album, ‘Night Time, My Time’. Directed by Grant Singer, in it, we see Sky caught up in an Eighties revenge fantasy with the guy who is not the one, complete with leather + lights setting the mood.
‘Night Time, My Time’ is set to drop October 29.
