Love fashion films as much as I do? What about one with a motion-touch, shoppable interactive feature? Well that’s exactly what luxe Luisviaroma.com had director Clara Cullen create with film ’The Stendahl Syndrome’. Now ‘Stendahl Syndrome’ is the phenomenon of a psychosomatic disorder first identified by the eponymous 19th-century French author, who posited that an experience of great beauty could cause bouts of disorientation + hallucination, which inspired this film.
Then the experience is further intensified with a soundtrack by Alabama-born composer + visual artist Sahra Motalebi, echoing throughout the different historic locations, from Studio Galleria Romanelli, one of the oldest sculpture studios in Europe, to the fresco-lined duomo of the Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore.
Stylist + creative director Carmel Imelda Walsh told NOWNESS, ‘When I first heard of the Stendhal Syndrome, I found myself comparing this feeling to the fashion weeks where I see so many shows + so much talent in such a condensed period of time,’ adding, ‘The handcrafts, designs + concepts are all so unique to the world of each designer.’
With dancer Chiara Afilani motioning throughout, wearing gorgeous looks including a J.W. Anderson Felted Wool Skirt + a Dragon Tattoo Effect Tulle Dress by Zuhair Murad, along with more by Delfina Delettrez, , Maison Martin Margiela, Jil Sander + Alexander McQueen, you just can’t help yourself but to double-click on items + buy, buy, buy!
