What’s not to love about these boots?!

PUMA BY MIHARA YASUHIRO are at it again to create a shoe that marries boot accents with high top Puma kicks – The MY-68 boot.  With a mix of all black leather + stingray uppers, on top of a white midsole, the sneaker is then transformed into a boot, with a padded ankle collar + drawstring shroud detail, that comes out from the top, similar to the uppers of cult classic, Tecnica’s Moon snow boots.  The design is then capped off with a white logo on the tongue.

For Fall, Bevza’s Collection, Full Of Playful Simplicity, Is Sure To Gain New Admirers

image

Creator of the ‘White Dress’ concept as a must-have + one of the Ukraine’s 5 top designers, Svetlana of Bevza created a fall collection full of simple silhouettes, using the timeless color palette of black + white.

Some shapes look to the Sixties for inspiration (row 3, look 3), but for the most part, a lot of the looks won’t have trouble adjusting to the modern chick’s fashion handbook. There are two types of trousers in the collection, whose forms seem to be a mainstay of several seasons now – tapered + cropped with a front pleat + slight cuff + the subtle harem figuration, cuffed at the ankles, resembling jogging pants (which seem to be everywhere in leather, these days).

The color palette wheel is then swung around to introduce burgundy + forest green creations with a twist.  In these pieces, you find a pattern that at first glance, seems to be akin to the fall floral trend, but upon closer observation, the flowers are actually doll faces – Very Clever!image

Another thing that makes this collection exciting, are the different textures used.  Apart from wool, you also have fur, sometimes in unlikely profiles, like the long sleveeveless coat below, not to mention sheer + leather accents throughout.

For Fall, Go Sightseeing With Nikicio

Using photorealistic images on clothing is nothing new, but I really love what designer Nina Karina Nikicio created for fall.  Using shots from a recent trip to New Zealand, Nina managed to create interesting silhouettes for label Nikicio‘s fall collection.  With layering + mixing opposite textures including leather, thick wool + silk, one can be sure to have fun in Nikicio when it starts getting cold.

Karl Lagerfeld: Zillions on Nowness.com

In February, Brit film director + photographer Malcolm Venville was enlisted to interview fashion god Karl Lagerfeld while in St. Moritz.  Lagerfeld was there for an exhibition series of a new set of his fire etchings on glass, based on portraits of his muses such as Theophilus London, Freja Beha Erichsen + Aymeline Valade, at Galerie Gmurzynska.  As the assignment draws near, Lagerfeld only has time to answer one question, which is unbelievable after Venville’s several flights, two long train journeys + cray early wake-up calls to make it happen.  The whole experience turned into the short film above called ‘Zillions’.

Venville asks,’ Is there one greatest influence on you?’  Lagerfeld replies, ‘Zillions.  I’m like a building with TV antennae.  I catch it all + forget about it.  I don’t analyze.  Analyzing is very bad! ’

Karl should add philosopher to his list of talents if he hasn’t already.

Animals Dressed In Fall Fashions Look Better Than You Think

image

Thanks to Spanish artist Miguel Vallinas ingenuity, he masterfully manipulates photos of animals dressed in fall fashions, to create interesting portraits.  Later on, I’ll show you another similar series + you decide which is better.

Called ‘Segundas Pieles’ (Second Skins’), it’s funny how he knew how to to style each individual animal based on it’s species, appearance + personality.  Look at the vulture below – it’s a no-brainer how much better it looks in a parka with a fur lined hood than a pig would.

Antelopes/Gazelles are perfect preppies, especially when wearing a blue oxford shirt with a green v-neck sweater.image

This cross-dressing peacock below, favors a blue Chanel-like tweed jacket with an interesting layered pleated black skirt, yet why the worried look?  Might he be guilty of getting his hands ‘dirty’ wearing those awful blue wool gloves?

And what’s up with this swan, devoid of looking graceful?  She looks more uncomfortable + socially awkward than anything else.  Maybe she’s upset she’s not wearing heels to make her look taller – more her style, don’t you think?image

Bespoke Grey Trousers Complete With Drama

image

A die-hard fan of skirts over pants for years now, when I came across this piece, I simply lost it.  Is it a skirt?  Is it a pair of trousers?  What if I said they were both?

‘Grey Trousers’, designed by Natsumi Zama, are based on the concept of a garment that pops up from a sheet of fabric.  All the stitches are concealed, while all the buttons are covered with the same fabric, giving the impression of an embossed piece on plain fabric.  Sick simplicity with lots + lots of drama.

Shape, texture + construction rule this fashion film featuring AW/13 collection, ‘Square3 Angle: The Transformation’.  Inspired by both the classic Chanel silhouette + contemporary art installations, designer Hellen van Rees manages to create complex yet beautiful pieces.

Utilizing her signature tweed style, made with handmade fabrics from factory discarded pieces + recycled threads, she spins that iconic Chanel tweed suit on it’s head.  With Hellen’s new tweed blends in bright colors + geometric shapes, I don’t think Coco would mind so much – Do you?
