The Loafer Remix

As if making the loafer in metallics, printed skins or canvas weren’t enough in reinterpreting it, here a two examples of other super cool alternatives.

imageHere you have the ‘Anderson Open Toe Loafer’ in white, by Simona Vanth, that is a simple loafer with some ‘bite’.

Then you have the ‘Tassel Fringe Low Heel’ in black, by Cosmic Wonder Light Source, that remind me of tasseled loafers.

Isabella Blow IS Fashion Galore

image

With all things being punk lately, including the recent Met Gala for ‘Punk: Chaos to Couture’ exhibit, to bring up Isabella Blow, is not that much of a stretch.  Although not necessarily a punk herself, she was very much ‘anti-establishment’ by following her own rules on what to wear.  Luckily for those in London, the Isabella Blow Foundation + Central Saint Martins have organized ‘Isabella Blow: Fashion Galore!’, which will showcase more than 100 pieces from her collection.

Friend Daphne Guinness, the founder of the Isabella Blow Foundation, which raises money to promote fashion + encourage young + aspiring talent, as well as other charities that promote well being, told WWD, ‘This exhibition is, to me, a bittersweet event,’ + who can blame her.  Due to years plagued by depression, in 2007 Isabella took her own life + Daphne, obviously, did what any good friend would do – she purchased Blow’s wardrobe – who knows what plans others might have had, not understanding her or fashion.

Designers on display will, of course include McQueen + Treacy, but also at hand will be Jeremy Scott, Julien Macdonald, Viktor & Rolf, Fendi, Escada, Prada + Marni.  A show divided by themes, with one discussing her aristocratic background, early friendships with Treacy + McQueen, her cray cray collection of shoes + hats + her love of the British countryside, I expect visitors will get a true education in style + fashion.

Crossing my fingers, legs + eyes, this exhibit makes it our way, so us New Yorkers can get a sneak peek, into the ‘closet’ of one of fashion’s greatest.

On such a dreary NYC day, how about some blasphemy, Christian blasphemy that is, to perk things up?  Here’s David Bowie’s music video for the ‘The Next Day’, the title track of his comeback album ‘The Next Day’ (I guess I never got the memo how an icon needs a comeback, when they’re always around, albeit through influence, history or sheer genius.).  Directed by Floria Sigismondi (whom also directed Bowie’s last video for ‘The Stars {Are Out Tonight}’ starring Tilda Swinton), starring Gary Oldman + Marion Cotillard, the video is based on a concept envisioned by Bowie himself + boy, what a concept.

Dripping in bloody Christian iconography, it almost starts off as a joke with ‘A priest + nun go into a bar…’.  You see flogging, an old favorite type of self-inflicted punishment, great imagery, including a posesssed nun with very long lower lashes + lots + lots of blood.

Enjoy!

Top Looks From The 2013 Met Gala

Although Givenchy was a top favorite amongst last night’s Met Gala, I thought Carine Roitfeld wore it best (row 1, look 1), considering the ‘Punk’ theme, highlighting the ‘Punk: Chaos to Couture’ exhibit.  There were hints of Chanel + Dior but mostly, inappropriate for the event – wrong red carpet, for sure.  I also liked Hilary Rhoda in Wes Gordon (look 2), Nicole Richie in Topshop (look 3) + of course, Marc Jacobs (look 4), looking ever so perfect in COMME des GARÇONS.

Other faves were Jessica Hart in Azzedine Alaia (row 2, look 1), Donatella Versace (‘shocker’), Chloe Sevigny in Proenza Schouler accessorized with a black turban (look 3) + Anja Rubik in Anthony Vaccarello (look 4).

A Perfect Homage To Raf Simons

image

For all of you Raf Simons fans out there, LN-CC will be paying homage to the great Belgian designer by selling you a piece of history – 40 pieces to be exact.   Well, why pay homage now you ask?  Besides the designer’s talent + skill,  LN-CC has always had a soft spot for Simons + figured, this would be a great segue into the designer’s Fall line set to drop in August.

The capsule collection will include one-off pieces designed by Raf from 1998 to 2008 and now available for purchase on ln.cc.com.

An iPhone Whose Shots Literally Get You Drunk

Usually, when one thinks about the iPhone + shots, one usually thinks of snapshots taken with it’s built-in camera.  Well, what if I told you someone came up with the idea to take the iPhone shell + turn it into a flask?

             image

Called the iFlask, everything is pretty minimal when it comes to form + function.  Lightweight + compact, it can hold up to 5 ounces of liquid, which can be conveniently poured into the headphone jack, with a sliding ‘open + close’ switch (as seen above).  To make the process even more effortless, it comes with a funnel for easier pouring.  And, for those who enjoy chasing their shots with beer, there’s a bottle opener discreetly placed on the back of the iFlask.

            image

Now, when choosing what kind of shots to take with your iPhone, I mean your iFlask, this time, it won’t be a matter of what color should they be in including black + white or sepia, but rather, how much proof + taste?

Here’s Daria Werbowy punking out in Brooklyn, in the third installment of Vogue’s ‘PUNK STORIES’.  A fashion film, directed by Cass Bird, you get an insider’s view of the many different guises assumed by Daria, at various locations throughout Brooklyn, the hub of cool.

I’m unsure which look I like best, but I think, I’m partial to her short bleached-blond look, wearing a jumpsuit, the most.  Which do you prefer?

For Memorial Day, Bring Out Your Inner Bond Girl With Minimale Animale

image

With Memorial Day soon upon us, you ask yourself, ‘Which swimsuit should I sport this year?’  Well, what about playing a Bond girl wearing one of Minamale Animale‘s swimsuits from their Spring 2013 collection, in your own 007 flick?

image

image

Using contrasting materials like spandex + mesh, to great effect, giving some pieces a layered look, athletic yet super sexy silhouettes emerge – just look at the mesh inserts + panels of some of the suits + how they add more dimension.  Other interesting details include wide bands across the back + contrasting colored back zippers.  Yet, it’s no surprise any of Minimale Animale’s suits aren’t sexy with names like ‘The Vice’, ‘The Payback’ + ‘Take-Over Kini’

Now if you’re like me, trying to beat the clock + hitting the gym hard, to attain a less dimply ass, to fit one of these suits, for now, just dream + work harder.  However, for the lucky ones out there that can replace one of the models above, get to shopping + relax with your martini, shaken, not stirred.
