Here’s another winner from this year’s A SHADED VIEW OF FASHION FILM festival.

Emerging New Talent winner ‘Connecting’ for V Magazine by Jacob Brown, opens with Bella Thorne as this lonely, sad chick, that just plays with a digital critter on her phone, through many cool costume changes.  Eventually, she manages to pull away from her device upon finding an RSVP card.  Although doubt riddles her face, she decides to go to the event anyway.  With no phone in sight, she finds the next best thing to occupy her time – play with her food.  She then meets + connects with this guy, as you witness their relationship unfold, with a focus on the ‘honeymoon’ stage.  But guess what, comfort sets in, eventually leading the couple to be ‘connected’ with their phones, playing with their individual digital critters.

Enjoy!

Define Your Future Emotions Through Arianna Cerrito

image

With the aim for women to feel ‘special’ + in their own skin in any occasion + on ‘that’ special occasion worth to be remembered, Arianna Cerrito’s designs are primarily inspired by memories.  Embracing a strong attraction to fluid movements, organic forms + 3D shapes, Cerrito then transplants these onto the woman’s body, as if she were the sculpture herself.

image

The juxtaposition of color-popping iconic 3D shapes + striking fabric details with clean, feminine sartorial cuts has become the signature of the brand, wonderfully demonstrated throughout this project.  One such case is the ‘Limited Edition Short Sleeves Silk Top’ above, in colors green + black.  Made in Italy, this high neck top, with ‘airy’ fluid short sleeves, uses sartorial 3-D fabric cones in the distinctive designer’s jewelry print all around the collar.  Made of 100% vegetable dyed silk organza + 100% vegetable dyed silk satin chiffon, Cerrito’s vision upholds poetic license in the balance between its structured form + soft expression.

In the ‘Limited Edition Trapezio Dress’ in black (also available in peacock) above, the designer pays homage to A-Line shapes of the 60’s, channeling the Bond Girl in any woman. Sartorial 3-D fabric cones all around the collar give such a simple, yet feminine piece, that delicate edge.  I especially love the subtle thick band detail down the front center of the dress + along the back, emphasizing the armholes.

But my favorite of all has to be this ‘Limited Edition Reversible Cape’ – talk about high drama!  Comprised of a deep green solid satin finish on one side + a printed neoprene on the other, with Cerrito’s distinctive jewelry pattern, the heavy weight of this cape allows for it to elegantly fall loosely on the wearer.  I just love the overall silhouette it creates from any angle, as you can see for yourself.

Dudzinksa’s ‘Association’ Pairs Chunky Knits With Metallics For Fall

image

image

Inspired by modern architecture + interior design, Polish designer Anna Dudzinksa‘s work may be described as street style avant garde, especially with her AW/14 collection called ‘Association’.  Using a mix of various knit textures throughout the collection, there are smooth knit pieces like a long black + white cardigan, while a pullover will incorporate the whole gamut including fringe + fuzz, like the one pictured above.

image

The mix of silver metallic leather with these amazing knits gives this collection’s granny chic a contemporary edge for sure.  There’s an interesting geometric knit paired with the most amazing black wool coat with a chevron imprint, a faux fur bottom + silver.  Meanwhile, there’s an interesting cream sweater with a  black motif strung throughout in an interesting design.

Now, let’s turn up the heat this morning with Jack Ü‘s new video for their Kiesza-featuring ‘Take Ü There’.  Directed by Kyle dePinna, Dillon Moore, + Daniel Streit, you see Jack Ü perform the song for massive crowds of fans, which makes it that much more difficult to sit calmly in your seat.  And for that little extra, there are dashes of colorful animated visuals carrying the beat + Jack Ü’s sexy swagger.

But really, did you expect anything less from Jack Ü, made up of Diplo + Skrillex?  Exactly, I didn’t think so!

Wake up to fashion film ‘A Sound Of COS’, this year’s A Shaded View Of Fashion Film Festival winner for Best Sound Design.  A film by Lernert + Sander for COS Women’s + Men’s AW/14 collection, you get a behind-the-scenes look at how sounds are created for actions in the film, resulting in a very comical + entertaining little film.

Besides the white space, complete with film screen, various microphones, stage + different props, I especially love how a basketball, twisted on top of salt, creates the sound of the models turning about face.  The sound of pulling open blinds to mimic a zipper + the sound of pulling up of a jacket’s lapel come to life by the the opening of a large umbrella is just fantastic.  Simply brilliant!

I get excited over anything Karl Lagerfeld + or Chanel related, so imagine how quickly my heart swooned over this trailer for Chanel’s short film ‘Reincarnation’ by Karl Lagerfeld.  Set to accompany Chanel’s Métiers d’Art collection in Salzburg next week, the film features Cara Delevigne + Pharell Williams.  And with Pharell involved, the film’s sound of music is definitely one to be enjoyed especially with an original Williams composition of ‘CC the World’, sung along with Cara Delevingne’s soulful voice, the model’s first as a singer.  The film recounts one of Chanel’s formative moments where Coco Chanel, upon seeing the uniform of the elevator operator of the Austrian hotel where she vacationed in 1954, which inspired the now iconic Chanel jacket.

‘Reincarnation’ debuts on Dec. 1, a day ahead of the Paris-Salzburg fashion show at the Schloss Leopoldskron, so mark your calendars to watch the whole thing then.

Enjoy!
