Raf Simons Snags Plastikman For Guggenheim Gala

As if Raf Simons could get any cooler, now I find out he too loves EDM like me + countless others.  Since Dior is in charge of providing entertainment for this year’s 2-day Guggenheim Gala in November, Raf Simons thought no one would be better than DJ Richie Hawtin aka Plastikman (one of Hawtin’s most popular aliases), + if you know EDM, could you blame him?

A huge influence on Detroit’s techno scene in the Nineties + known for his minimal techno style, Plastikman is sure to turn the gala out.  Raf told WWD, ‘“I listen to Richie Hawtin’s music like others listen to classic music.  As Plastikman it is also an amazing live experience so I am extremely grateful that he accepted to bring it back for that evening.”  But the evening will be a family affair, as Plastikman’s brother, ambient DJ Matthew Hawtin, will perform at the pre-party Nov. 6th.  The gala dinner will honor artist James Turrell followed by honoring artist Christopher Wool on Nov. 7th.

Now, since Plastikman is best known for his abstract + minimal works + in lieu of my last post on Sophia Webster’s bugged out spring collection, take a listen to Plastikman’s ‘Kriket’ + enjoy!
