How great is this fashion film for Raquel Allegra‘s AW/13 collection?  It so reminded me of Marina Abramovic’s ‘Light/Day‘ with performance artist, longtime collaborator + ex-lover, Ulay.  In Marina’s (godmother of performance art) version however, they’re kneeling.

I just love the juxtapositions at play here:   The collection as a whole, is full of separates, very light in weight + silhouette, which would call for a less aggressive situation like sitting in front one another above – confrontation is never comfortable but bearable for very few.  Then the action of slapping one another, isn’t exactly a soft one, especially as the video progresses, with the slaps getting harder.

Love, love, love!

This is how you pay homage to a beautiful piece of jewelry that adorns one of the sexiest parts of a woman, her neck.  Directed by illustrator + filmmaker Quentin Jones  for mytheresa.com, the homage is for the ’Plummage Necklace‘ by the House of Waris.  Yet, the real star here is  Indian-American jewelry designer Waris Awuhalia moving about a pastel space, with geometrics + blooms, to an electro track.

Neosporin Helps You Get Sandal Ready

                                image

With the first day of Spring right around the corner, sandals will soon get dusted off + make their way out the door.  Unfortunately, if you’re like me, who failed to consistently moisturize your feet, you probably ended up with heels scaly enough to peel potatoes or worse.  Then I thought, ‘Why not use my NEOSPORIN Eczema Essentials cream?’  Over the summer. I bought it for its intended purpose + as it said on the box, in three days, I saw results.  So I figured, why not apply it to my heels + in two days, like magic, my heels looked a hell of a lot better.

I’m going to keep using it until my heels are where I want them to be, but at least for now, I don’t have to carry the horrifying burden of dry, cracked + ugly heels, peeking out of my cute sandals.

Opening Ceremony’s Countdown to ‘Spring Break’ Involves A Capsule Collection Of The Same Name

For Opening Ceremony to team up with costume designer Heidi Bevins of the flick ‘Spring Breakers‘ for a capsule collection, comes as no surprise as they are THE INFLUENCERS.  Set to drop March 22nd, alongside the film’s release, the line is said to capture the party frenzy that the four collegiate chicks live for.

The collection will definitely live up to the film’s name by including necessities no ‘Spring Breaker’ should be without like towels, hoodies printed with ‘DTF’ slogan, unicorn printed bandanas, mesh backpacks, cig lighters, ‘HARMONY’ friendship bracelets, ‘SPRING BREAK 4EVER BITCHES’ wristbands + bikinis in both neon colors + custom graphics by OC + contemporary artist REAS.  To add to the fun, the four college girls are represented by different symbols:  ’Brit’ (Ashley Benson) is a pair of green dolphins, ‘Candy’ (Vanessa Hudgens) is a pink marijuana leaf, ‘Cotty’ (Rachel Korine) is a hot pink dripping ice cream cones and ‘Faith’ (Selena Gomez) is an inverted purple cross.  Then you have the corn-rowed James Franco’s Alien as a glow-in-the-dark kind.

So mark your calendars + get ready to shop your little hearts out as the collection makes it’s exclusive debut in LA + NYC March 22nd + April 5th in London + Tokyo.

Metamorphosis Inspires The ‘Chimaera’ Collection For Spring

image

For her SS/13 collection called ‘Chimaera’, it’s very obvious designer Leyre Valiente found inspiration in the different stages of metamorphosis, realized through animal anatomy + the human skeletal structure (above) depicted in some of the pieces. Thread was sewn underneath fabric to make it look like tendons or veins on the human body. Others had panels that looked like those found on a suit of armor or the exoskeleton of an insect, with a delicate touch.  Occasionally, visible stitches were added to look like scars.  Leyre also worked with leather, creating a dress silouhette that looks almost regal with it’s high shoulder pleated detail and pockets.
