Saying perception is everything, when referring to photographer Martin Tremblay’s, aka LePinch, latest photographic series, is not nearly the half of it.  You might even have to agree, it’s more about perspective than anything else or is it?

Created for Schön! Magazine in London, for this fashion photographic series, LePinch shot different models upside down.  Designed by Pascal & Jérémie, you would think one would be way too distracted to focus on any of the looks at all with everything flipped over, but it actually does the opposite.  After a few seconds of noticing the upside down location + extras, when your eyes finally come to the model, there’s a brief sense of silence that takes over, with your gaze transfixed only on the model.  The look’s patterns + textures + the model’s expression become singular, while simultaneously, transforming into part of a bigger story.

For Pre-Fall 2014, Oscar de la Renta’s Ladylike Appeal Gets A Modern Twist

image

For Oscar de la Renta, the challenge of a Pre-Fall 2014 collection is how ‘It encompasses all seasons.’  But regardless of this, Oscar tells WWD that ‘the most important thing is to make a woman look great.’  So the key here was variety + boy, did Oscar deliver.

There were day looks that celebrated the female form, in ladylike fashion, but with several modern touches.  Silhouettes included different variations on the skirt suit including the pencil skirt suit, complete with a moto jacket + belted one in plaid, with a high slit, ready to get down to business.

Masculine touches appeared in the likes of a sleeveless trench coat, belted low, paired with matching palazzo pants as seen here in green.  Oscar also played with texture including lace, gold brocades, perforated looks + embroidery, allowing the wearer to express sophistication with modern ease, mixed with timeless appeal.

Oscar’s ball gowns were their usual gorgeous selves full of color including the chartreuse-purple + chartreuse-burgundy combo + melted gold.

For #FlashbackFriday, in lieu of yesterday’s review of opera ’The Life and Death of Marina Abramović’, here’s the music video for ‘Cut The World’ by Antony + The Johnsons.  Directed by NABIL, starring Willem Dafoe, Carice van Houten + Marina Abramović, the video deals with the violent outcome between Willem’s likable businessman + Carice, his secretary.  It begins with a pleasant conversation between the two, started by Carice, but something just doesn’t seem right.

As the song builds, so does the video’s tension, with the intensity of Carice’s gestures + facial expressions.  Then suddenly, out of nowhere, Carice slits Dafoe’s neck, in a harsh yet neat fashion.
