Here’s a fashion film for SK Shoes‘s SS/13 ‘Reveal Raw’ collection.  Designed by Sveta Kletina, they ascribe to Sveta’s anthem of female beauty being turned inside out.  With society’s constant encouragement of the cons of aging, these shoes embrace this notion, resulting in the complete opposite, by turning the shoes inside out.  Hammer strikes, the marks of nails, abrasions + cracks on the leather are visible yet masterfully hidden within the shoe, smeared + clobbered.  It is by this process that the true raw beauty of the shoe is revealed.

Saint Laurent’s Newest Rock Star Ad Campaign

image

Saint Laurent is no stranger to dressing musicians, as the house styled Mick + Bianca Jagger for their St. Tropez nuptials back in 1971.  This time around, designer Hedi Slimane is dressing the likes of Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth, Courtney Love, Ariel Pink + Marilyn Manson, for Saint Laurent’s newest ad campaign, wearing pieces styled by the artists themselves.  Love these pics shot by none other than Hedi himself.

Now this is the way to wake up with Shame!

Here’s an exclusive SHOWstudio video for ‘Shame’, a dark track from debut album ‘Cosmos’, by Derek Gruen’s (aka Del Marquis of Scissor Sisters) new musical collective, ‘Slow Knights’.  Directed by Edward Paul Quist, the ‘cyclical digital prison of fear’ is dramatically realized by strong visuals representing feelings of rejection + being used, serving as the perfect backdrop for such great vocals.  Love the shots of occasional distorted imagery + strobe-like stripes of light + dark, peppered with pops of colored patterns.

This song is perfect for a Spring day in NYC – it’s chill vibe combined with the singer’s voice reminds me of  a weekend of either laying in the grass while the breeze tickles my ears or walking around in stockings, garters, heels + jewelry, as I’m getting ready for a night out. Called ‘Naked Life’, by French artist Oko Ebombo, it’s part of ‘19’, a musical project which chronicles the artist’s urban experiences + Parisian Jazz influences, from 2009 – 2012, in four different cities.

Directed by + starring Oko himself + shot by Simon Eléphant, wearing a two-toned suit by designer Simon Cato of O.BALLOU, his talents captivate your attention, from beginning to end.

Ziggy Stardust’s Fashion Designer Is Back In Fashion

Last Friday, Tokyo was in for a real treat with Kansai Yamamoto‘s return to fashion, packaged in a show full bright colors, cool graphics + various silhouettes, with lots of personality.  If you’re wondering why this guy is so important, two words – Ziggy Stardust or David Bowie, take your pick.  More notably known as Bowie’s designer during his Ziggy Stardust tour, his return back to fashion just seemed to be an organic decision.  Kansai told WWD, ‘The first 20 years of my career I spent as a fashion designer, then the next 20years I focused on entertainment.  Now, for the first time, I am combining those two things.’

Fast forward to the Nineties, when fashion + Kansai parted ways.  After selling his avant-garde pieces throughout New York, London + Paris, he decided to work on live entertainment events, which he called Super Shows.  Combining music, acrobatics, dance + traditional Japanese festivals, his shows have captivated audiences worldwide.

Now, although this show was at a smaller scale than his Super Shows, it still had hints of both fashion + entertainment, as samurai looks worn by martial artists lunged onto the runway, amongst other models.  Not bad for 69, especially when you look like that (blue kimono jacket above) + still bursting with creativity like that bomber jacket above in top row, look 3 – graffiti bubble letters spell his name on the sleeves, while the rest of the jacket is emblazoned  with floral embroideries, paired with patterned harem pants

Favoring Seventies era posturing, hazy colors + lighting, isn’t it surprising any of these pics were shot now, especially his nudes?  A lot of them look like either movie posters or pages out of Playboy magazine circa 1970 plus – Gorgeous!image
