Really…A part 2 to Chanel’s No.5 fragrance commercial featuring Brad Pitt?  Wow!  Not only does he say a whole lot of nothing in this one like in part 1, this time, the woman of his affection makes an appearance.

It’s unfortunate that Chanel’s camp would have us believe that most women with taste react to advertising the same way most straight men do – thinking we would completely succumb to surrender and whip out our plastic for just another pretty face.  Now when it comes to tipping, that’s a whole other thing.

Loving Mykki Blanco’s ‘Haze.Boogie.Life’ music video above – it’s obnoxious, fearless + confrontational – just like her.  Shot in East London while on her recent European tour, Mykki carries on carelessly through the streets and hangs with friends, while spitting rhymes.

Going back + forth as herself and Michael Quattelbalm Jr., through several looks and random GIFferent pauses, the tone of delivery changes from a strong woman commanding attention, a ‘lil-ol-me’ chick batting her lashes, to a cocky guy just throwing it down raw and simple. Including a stretch wine velvet dress with two high, long ponytails and a black bandage dress with huge gold earrings to long semi-colorful braids piled high while wearing a purple camo jacket shirtless with saggy jeans only strengthens the fact that Mykki’s diverse talents go farther than just being another pretty face.

The song’s beat + tone begs to threaten the listener to start snapping their tongue to their palate and ‘sing’ along.

Check out them gold nails with thorns.

Here’s Brad Pitt in an ad for Chanel No.5.  Apparently he was paid $7million for this gig and the first male ever, to endorse the iconic Chanel No.5 fragrance.  Pitt’s supposed to give the male perspective on the fragrance but when you actually listen to his monologue, you’re listening to nothing as it’s saying a whole lot of nothing.

One thing I will say is how he’s starting to look like a younger Robert Redford.

Would You Wear Jewelry Made Out Of Skin?

Well, Out Of Silicone Material Made To Look Like Skin That Is?

In a way, this concept isn’t so far out there with Lady Gaga donning her ‘meat dress’ or even items made out of human hair.  Yet, it’s the idea behind this jewelry collection that sets it apart from the aforementioned.  Entitled ‘Skin Secret’ by Taiwanese designer and recent graduate I-Ting Ho, she created imperfect, blemished skin to prompt feelings of fascination as well as disgust in the viewer.  I guess she wanted to incite the same feelings we have when watching a ‘train wreck’ – although horrific + discomforting, we just can’t stop looking.

Fascinated with skin, one of the human body’s largest organs, as a protector and full of many layers and different textures, the artist was attracted to blemished skin brought on by different skin problems including keloid, vitiligo and allergy.  But it was the designer’s own allergy afflicted skin that sparked this thought in her mind – ‘to change the role of skin, recompose its definition, and challenge people’s thinking’.

The collection is made from silicone rubber cast in a mold to look like dimpled skin before it’s sewn together or attached to metal parts, forming each piece.  The reason for the juxtaposition of  skin texture with metal structure, the designer explains is ‘in order to create a conflicting image – hard and soft.’  The collection includes fleshy earrings, necklaces, nipple brooches and sanitary napkins as seen above.

In pic.1 – there are two necklaces, one on a long chain (L) + the other, with a handheld mirror-like pendant in size, that the wearer can use as a mask (R); earrings dangling from black needles; and then there’s that nipples brooch.  In pic.2, the glasses act as a blindfold and in pic.3, there’s the sanitary napkin which maybe worn as a cuff?

Jewelry as a whole is meant to adorn and add beauty to the wearer, but when it comes to this jewelry collection, although it stems from an interesting concept, I don’t believe it does either but rather cause a sense of pause followed by repulsion.  I-Ting Ho on her jewelry collection says that ‘it is not like ordinary jewellery that is shiny or attractive, but will encourage people to think differently’, and that it will.

Nomadic Elegance Overwhelms Sachin + Babi For S/S13

Some of us are lucky enough to take at least one vacation a year while the rest of us somewhat stew in our own fantasies of faraway places during the rote of our everyday.  Yet, it is this lack of freedom to wander with abandon that makes this Sachin + Babi collection so perfect and desirable for Spring/Summer 2013.

Coupled with rock n’ roll confidence of the 60’s + 70’s, designer Sachin Ahluwalia managed to interpret the migrant lifestyle through various silhouettes worthy of any woman ready to be transported to an exotic getaway or her next ‘adventure’ (albeit for work or play).  There were many ruffles on hand to give this woman an air of elegance, with an occasional casual flair like the crochet tops above paired with skirts, accompanied by short jackets for that sporty feel or heightened for elegance under a sheer black long-sleeved top.

Texture also played a key role in the collection with the presence of different textiles including flowing chiffon and silk appliqué multi-layer embroidered tulle (red skirt above).  A few of the looks were punctuated with crystal and metal disc detail like the short skirt and sleeveless button-down shirt above and these amazing white trousers below.

Designer Ahluwalia said of the S/S13 collection, ‘This collection is for a woman who isn’t afraid to travel to far away places and allow herself to become truly immersed in new cultures,’ which is definitely obvious in this boho chic expedition of expression.

Prepare to get chills – Here’s Adele’s James Bond theme song called ‘Skyfall’, accompanied by a 77-piece orchestra.  All you can think is, ‘She was born to sing a Bond song’!  Definitely one of the best I’ve ever heard – WERQ!

Eventhough the movie’s not out yet, the single is now available on iTunes + as luck would have it, it’s release date (Oct 5) coincides with the 50th anniversary of the James Bond film franchise’s debut.
