Gareth Pugh Makes Ballet Pliés Dangerous

With His Costumes For The Royal Opera House’s New Ballet

A ballet I would kill to see with such visuals, tomorrow, The Royal Opera House is proud to present ‘Carbon Ballet’, their new ballet with costumes by avant-garde designer Gareth Pugh.  A ballet based on the theme of love and choreographed by Wayne McGregor, as a former dancer himself, Pugh was a perfect choice to design it’s costumes.

Luckily, Pugh’s signature sculptural designs do not take a back seat for such a conventional art form.  With Ballet pumps in the form of molded black spiked boots, while the dancer’s face is covered with an angular pointed mask and music written by Mark Ronson, you know you’ll be taken for quite a ride.  Sadly, you’ll have to be in London to experience such beauty.

What’s The Best Way To Preserve Your Favorite Kicks?

Turn Them Into Cubes Of Course!

Dare to dream, though, as these ‘sneakers’ are part of ‘Sneakercube’, a personal project by Warsaw artist Pawel Nolbert. Now I don’t know how many of you out there would be willing to do this to your favorite kicks but you have to admit, it’s a pretty cool concept. It’s almost like taxidermy for kicks, for those who live in small spaces.

Below is more of his work including the sneaker models used for this project like the Vans Mid Skool 77 CA, the New Balance 1500, Rick Owens Anthem, the Trussardi 1911 Camouflage, the Quilted Neil Barrett, the Common Projects ‘Achilles’ + Raf Simons Astronaut.

Colored Soles For Conservatives Who Can’t Handle Too Much Color

Can Opt For A Pair Of These Longwing Brogues By SOPHNET

Colored soles are very on trend but not everyone can wear a neon yellow sole under a grey shoe, for instance.  Enter Japanese SOPHNET‘s collaboration with American shoe manufacturer Walk-Over, making shoes since 1758.

A classic longwing shoe design with a punched wingtip in suede, besides the unique brick red sole, it’s the other details that make it more of a standout.  With a contrast wraparound stripe along it’s red sole,

and contrasting heel stripe in suede, these brogues are sure to set you apart from the rest unless you’re like me who doesn’t mind full-on color on your soles.  Available in two color ways – dirty buck + navy – you can pick up your pair at end clothing

OK Go’s Vid for ‘Skyscrapers’ makes me love Tango that much more.  Directed by longtime collaborator Trish Sie, also seen here dancing with the smooth Moti Buchboot, I can’t say I’ve ever seen the rainbow portrayed quite like this in an urban landscape – the right amount of color to brighten anyone’s day.

I never thought a wedge heel could be this sexy and the track is haunting!
