For Spring, Simone Rocha Delivers Sheer Poetry

For it’s RTW Spring 2015, Simone Rocha literally kept things light.  There were plenty of sheer tulle looks in various colors including white accented by hand crocheted white flowers.  Other times, there were red embroidered flowers on a pink tulle trench, creating a floral windswept look where the wearer happened to be the victim of circumstance, getting flowers all over her.  The best was accenting the trim of a tulle pant suit’s jacket + pants with marabou feathers.  As far as pattern goes, there was one bright red number with white florals on it that were further defined by 3D flowers of the same fabric.  But texture was also a stand-out in the collection with an off-the-shoulder dress with an asymmetric hem done in a textured black cloque + a full-skirted dress in a shimmery gold and silver brocade.

WANTED: ‘Mini Gun Dress’ + ‘Half Gun Dress’ By Jealousy

There’s no denying you’ll spark conversation in one of these gun print dresses by Jealousy.  Besides their mirrored tattoo-gun print, these cotton dresses both have more going for them than their different lengths.

The ‘Mini Gun Dress’ above, not only has gun printed raglan sleeves, it also features an overlaying v-neck bodice which is a very subtle yet sexy detail.  The ‘Half Gun Dress’ below however, is sleeveless, but also with a round neckline, has an asymmetric tattoo-gun print wrapping around the right side of the bodice, perfectly blending into the half of the right back of dress + right front of dress.  In a maxi-length, with an a-line skirt, what kills me most of all is that singular gun in the middle of the wearer’s chest, that I’d like to imagine is switching places with a comfy spot inside her bra.

Beyoncé + Jay Z: Bang Bang, Part One

image

There’s a lot to be said about simplicity + that is one of the many things I love about the Beyoncé + Jay Z’s ‘Bang Bang, Part One’ above.  Besides it being a take on Bonnie + Clyde, but a lot more badass costarring a dusty 1960s Pontiac GTO, director Dikayl Rimmasch takes an artsy approach – from French New Wave Cinema, in fact – with Jean-Luc Goddard’s ‘Breathless’ as a huge inspiration.  How apropos no, with their tour finale ending in Paris on Saturday at Stade de France?!

‘Bang Bang’ is a trilogy of short films starring ‘Beyoncé + Jay Z that appeared throughout their two-and-a-half month long tour, ‘On the Run’.  The subtleties from Bey’s striped top in bed with her flicked eyeliner, a nod to Jean Seaberg + Jay Z with his cigar instead of a cigarette + a large fedora, similar to the one worn by the hot Jean-Paul Belmondo of ‘Breathless’, just keeps you wanting to see more, which I guess is the point with there being two more parts to come.  Add a soundtrack with an Ennio Morricone classic + you end up with something #flawless.

Enjoy!
