Fashion Film ‘Fruits De Mer’ Shows A Twisted Side Of Adultery

When it comes to adultery, usually the lover is the one that plays tricks on their married paramour for various reasons but for the most part, it’s usually for more attention or more ‘hush gifts.  In fashion film ‘Fruits de Mer’, filmmaker Hala Matar flips the script on that aspect of adultery.  In it, we first meet the confused + beautiful adulteress played by Zoë Le Ber, waking up in the Bar Chateau Marmont as a victim of a vicious prank played on her by her restauranteur lover Fred, played by old school actor C. Thomas Howell, dressed in vintage Vivienne Westwood of course.  You see, the adulteress wakes up in her lover’s suit + asks where her vintage frilly + pink Nina Ricci dress is as she can’t quite meet her husband in nothing else, right?

When the dress does resurface, it turns up as part of a taunt as ‘My Funny Valentine’ is sung to her by a handsome tattooed James Ransone from ‘The Wire’ wearing the very same dress she’s desperately looking for.  Now you would think the poor girl would get her dress back, but nope, it doesn’t happen.  ’The dress is forensic evidence of what happened the night before, without it she’s naked, hence powerless,’ Matar tells NOWNESS.  Simply brilliant except for one blip in the beginning – the lack of continuity: in addressing her lover as to where her dress is wearing no earrings + all of sudden they appear in next frame.

Enjoy!

WANTED: Entropia Cape + Entropia Shoes By Luisa Luparello

If there’s one true guarantee of Fall fashion it’s high drama with the variety of choices.  You have a lot of textiles to choose from, volume is a usual must + layering the norm.  Considering Entropy Necessity, as a natural need, of simplifying, cleaning out + creating abstraction from a chaotic system to find an order, gave birth to the ’Entropia’ AW/14 collection.  With this Fall collection, designer Luisa Luparello, mixes simple shapes + graphic touches with soft draperies while pure wool clothes combined with mellow fabrics in a continual duotone, create a balance where the chaos once was.

Fall is also a season where you have plenty more classics to choose from, since there’s always a different take on them.  One such classic + timeless item is the cape, but boy, is this one a must have!

Part of Luisa Luparello’s ‘Entropia’ AW/14 collection, the Entropia Cape has the feel of an artist’s smock meets caftan, in 100% camel wool.  With edges, collar + pockets piped in a darker color, cinched together with the hint of a belt in front, makes this cape pretty versatile + special indeed.

Now I’m not one that often likes to be head-to-toe in one label, but here, I’d have to make the exception as these Entropia Shoes look fantastic with the Entropia Cape.  The boots are made in the same wool fabric as the cape, on top of a covered wedge heel, with a zipper down the sides.

Introducing The SS/15 ‘Hain’ Collection By Ignacia Zorda

Inspired by the graphic body decorations employed by the now-extinct Selk’nam people of Tierra Del Fuego, for their coming-of-age ceremony called Hain (below), Paris based designer Ignacia Zorda’s debut SS/15 collection of the same name, beautifully translates their story. image

Black + white looks perfectly replicate the Selk’nam body painting patterns through cutouts, silhouettes + prints including horizontal stripes in varying widths + what looks like white hand-painted dots on black.  Designer Ignacia Zorda is definitely a designer to look forward to, for more seasons to come.
