Best & Worst Dressed | SAG Awards 2014

Unlike this year’s Globes, there were a lot more misses than hits on the SAG Awards red carpet.  Some of my favorite actors wore looks that made me want to scream at their stylists for picking such ugliness, so let’s start with the BEST.

(L-R) Lupita Nyong’o once again killed it, but this time in a turquoise Gucci look.  Cate Blanchett looked dreamy in light pink Givenchy while Kelly Osborne served a lot of curves thanks to Zac Posen.  JLaw amazed in a sparkly Dior number while Oprah sizzled in Badgley Mischka.

(L-R)  Poor Mariah looked like a hot mess, which is hard to do when wearing Saint Laurent.  Abigail Breslin‘s Chagoury dress wore her while the following fell prey to looks that aged them way too much – Malin Akerman in Naeem Khan + Amy Adams in Antonio Berardi.  Sarah Paulson‘s look by Rochas, well, her facial expression above sums it up.

Tomorrow’s World: Inside on Nowness.com

Tomorrow’s World music video for ‘Inside’, shot by director Gauthier Flauder, will make you want to flow like water, with vocals by Lou Hayter seducing you to jump in, head first.  French music producer Jean-Benoît Dunckel, one half of both Air + Tomorrow’s World, told NOWNESS how they ‘like to deal with a certain modern romanticism’ + ‘Inside’ definitely captures that with it’s very organic feel.  In fact, Hayter even compared the beat to that of a heartbeat.

Tomorrow’s World is now available on iTunes.

Enjoy!

‘The Tearpot’ By Johnson Tsang

image

Although a little creepy, this ceramic ‘Tearpot’ by artist Johnson Tsang is quite beautiful, unique + just plain dope.  I love it when artists take an ordinary + utilitarian medium like ceramics + flip it on it’s head, to create something ‘outside the box’.

Sure, it’s not very functional but it would make drinking tea a hell of a lot more interesting than just seeing flowering tea blossoms bloom inside a transparent cup.

Smudged Lipstick Taints MSGM’S Pre-Fall 2014 Collection

For MSGM Pre-Fall 2014, smudged lipstick motifs were created, based on creative director Massimo Giorgetti’s thought of a girl getting ready in front of a bathroom mirror.  A marble like pattern, inspired by a bathroom shelf, was also created, in keeping with Massimo’s vision.

Silhouettes were simple, fun + elegant.  There was an oversize white silk duchesse coat with red smudged lips print paired with slim trousers while a more casual approach was taken with a sweatshirt + skirt combo, complete with blue smudged lips embroidered on the skirt.

Love how the smudged lips look like they were created with watercolors.

Believe it or not, Kate Moss turned 40 today – I know, gag, right?  So to mark such a milestone, with a chuckle or two, here’s ’50 Shades of Kate’, where Kate comically read from the vomit inducing ‘50 Shades Of Grey’ for Comic Relief.  To make it even more comical,  the ‘Love Story’ theme song was chosen as the soundtrack for this reading.

Happy Birthday Kate!

This fashion film proves what a difference music makes in setting the tone of the film, a lot like slow motion.  Created by the brilliant duo Hunter + Gatti for KOCCA, starring Eniko Mihalik + Andres Velencoso, fashion film ‘K Woman’ will bring to mind Hitchkock’s ‘Psycho’.  In it, we see model Eniko Mihalik checking into a motel, managed by the hot Andres Velencoso.  Now if the film had an electronic or dance soundtrack, it would lift the mood of the film + give it that levity most dreary + rainy nights lack, which is the kind of night set here.  But no, the somber tone is steady + the suspense continues to build.  Eniko then finds a peephole in the wall + starts staring at Andres showering, which just compels any girl to want to play, which is exactly what she does.  But as any great femme fatale will tell you, the girl gets the boy, kills him, moves on + it’s business as usual.  Love, love, love!

Enjoy!
