3D-Printed Eyewear For The Eccentric

gl1

Don’t you just love these 3D-printed geometric shaped eyeglasses?  Created by Nasim Sehat in her Shangaï workshop, this tremendously cool eyewear series called ‘Biz Eyes’ is comprised of custom 3D-printed detachable glasses.  The different detachable shapes can be replaced by turning them 25 degrees + screwing another pair on for a more crazier look than the last.

Now ‘Biz Eyes’ has two different collections. There’s the ‘Cream On Chrome’ above, made up of cream + black pieces + the ‘Genesis’ collection below, made up of kookier shapes in a variety of colors.

It’s great that Sehat chose to keep the frame a dull translucent color, to not distract any attention away from all the detachable shapes.

The Best Way To Serve Leather Is Raw

high

When I think of raw cut leather garments associated with warriors, cavemen + ‘Mad Max’ come to mind. But for Juliana Jace, designer of Sphynx Design, this raw collection of leather pieces were inspired by the great biker icons like Marlon Brando (below).

Reflecting the battle of finding identity through style + garments faced by female youth culture, like warriors, the way Jace tells it, these chicks chose leather clothes to be their armour like this ‘Miss Brando Jacket‘.

This leather jacket, with its black raw cut sleeves, has two different colored attached flaps of leather, while keeping the body all black. And the way the sleeves are cut, giving them a cape effect, three quarters down from the mid-forearm, allows for the jacket to have great movement (see video below). The body of the jacket is the only part that’s lined. But best of all, there’s only one jacket like this in the world, sure to make any admirers jealous.

Another jacket in this collection sure to incite more jealousy, as it too is the only one in existence, is this ‘High Speed Jacket‘.

wow1

Although similar to the ‘Brando Jacket’, this jacket is all grey + the sleeves are a bit different. This jacket’s sleeves are a lot more exaggerated + longer, making it appear as if you’re really wearing a short cape in the back.

The final raw leather piece in this collection is the ‘Girl Gang Skirt‘.

This unique asymmetric leather mini skirt, successfully uses color blocking, giving it more depth.  I love that longer piece following its frontal zipper closure + the one on its left side, which can be better seen in the pic above, paired with the ‘Miss Brando Jacket’. This skirt is fully lined in polyester fabric.

But to see the effective use of the cuts + silhouettes of these pieces, you need to see them in motion in the video below.

Now raw cut leather, at first glance, might appear as something easy to do but it takes great skill to pull off, as designer Juliana Jace has done here. No wonder she was listed as one of the ten best 2014 graduate fashion designers from SENAC (ESMOD São Paulo).

With these bad ass pieces, you’ll be sure to serve to sex appeal + attitude deliciously raw.  For more on Sphynx Design, go to Wowcracy.

Akris Kicks Back For RTW Spring 2016

akris-s16-23

For its RTW Spring collection, Akris decided to play around with different textures, asymmetrical cuts + skin baring looks for that sporty feel, day or night. If you notice, practically every ensemble was paired with white platformed brogues, which due to their simplicity, could easily be confused for kicks. But as a whole, the collection was a mix of  many angles, lines + round shapes.

There were chiffon, leather + cotton looks, but just the same, plenty of them were comprised of synthetic materials such as blue transparent vinyl, as seen above.

Asymmetry presented itself in many forms including a cotton shirt dress with one side longer than the other, appearing like a mini on the longer side + shorts on the shorter side.

ak2

Skin baring looks appeared in mesh, sheer chiffon + at times, as cutouts. Some of the cutouts included circles on the left sleeve of mid-thigh black stretch jersey dress + its chiffon skirt, which allowed you to see just enough skin to make it tasteful but still sexy. The unfinished hem perfectly highlighted those cutouts.

Paco Rabanne’s Sporty RTW Spring 2016 Collection

_RAB0610

I love Paco Rabanne’s futuristic sporty RTW Spring collection. There were leather tops that looked like the top of a swimmer’s maillot, while rainbow stripped strips, often seen as waistbands or trim on sports gear, decorated a ruffled shoulder accessory, if not, the front of a mini dress.

A lot of the pants had sheared sides, creating a beautifully frayed fringe, at times present on slide sandals to look like a cobweb of sorts.

The belt used was very utilitarian, with no real decorative appeal, which must’ve been the point. But my favorite part was the Paco Rabanne name in big black lowercase letters on waistbands of underwear + bras, peeking from the tops of pants + dresses.
