Anna Sui To Make A Splash At Miami Swim Week With A 35-Piece Capsule Collection

Anna Sui swimwear sketches.

Anna Sui is making her splash debut at Miami Swim Week, with a 35-piece capsule collection. Licensed with Onis Design Group, the collection is comprised of bikinis, one-pieces + cover-ups, Sui wanted the range to be ‘classic Anna’ + divided the lineup into two themes, one in red + black with ruffles, cherries + stars; the other, is a take on her signature butterfly patterns + of course, a preference for purple.

This will be Sui’s first license for a complete swim line. But don’t think this is Sui’s first time testing the water with swim, last Spring she collaborated with O’Neill.

Achieve Futuristic Asymmetry With Jacob Birge Vision Boots

sh1

Using the power of asymmetry, designer Jacob Birge champions the strong minded, liberated women of the future with these two pairs of boots from his Jacob Birge Vision AW/15 collection. Combining elegance with ferocity in the predatory animal prints, juxtaposed with patent leathers + suede, you get an interesting shoe indeed.  It’s all about the angles with these boots. His Jacob For Mys Space Boots make a dramatic statement with geometric cuts in a striking black, grey and metallic red colorway. The metallic red front peak, shoots straight up the front of the leg, making side profile selfies a must!

The angles make all the difference with these boots. Yet, there’s no mistaking Birge really knows a woman’s body + how it moves, as demonstrated in the shape of these shoes.

With his Jacob for Mys High Heeled Boots, while using the same colorway to dramatic effect, the animal print takes center stage in black, covering most of the boot + heel. This boot will have you walking away a lot, as the back black peak, points straight up to your butt.

What I love most about these two boots, is how great they highlight any look, exposed leg or not.

Must Cop/Drop: ‘Strap You’, Fendi’s Interchangeable Purse Strap Collection

I don’t know about you but, I don’t think changing your purse strap would make that much of an impact on the overall design of your purse. Of course, Fendi seems to think differently with ‘Strap You’, their latest innovation.

Individual Fendi straps.

Basically, customers will be able to choose from a collection of nine unique two-tone shoulder straps, in classic leather or exotic materials including python, or in multicolor stud embroidery. Available with either gold or silver snap-hooks, personalization will be pushed further by giving the customer the option of adding their initials, in the two font sizes available.

‘Strap You’ is set to drop in Fendi flagships in November, followed by a larger retail rollout.

And this is supposed to update your existing purse?  Sure, ok!

America Through The Prophetic Lens Of Jean-Pierre Laffont

Photographers Paradise Cover

Man Ray once said, “A good photograph is one that communicates a fact, touches the heart and leaves the viewer a changed person for having seen it. It is, in a word, effective,” which is what photojournalist Pierre Laffont’s pictures are all about in ‘Photographer’s Paradise: Turbulent America 1960-1990’ by Jean-Pierre Laffont, published by Glitterati Incorporated. Not only do you get to take a visual trip through American history, it is because of Laffont’s instinct + curiosity, do you get to see things from a captivating if not hypnotic vantage point. By capturing America’s collapses + conflicts including the Stock Market crash of the late Eighties + anti-war rallies, peppered with many triumphs like women in the military + the 2nd Gay Pride parade, Laffont manages to conjure up the excitement behind history + the importance of looking back.

When taking photographs, Laffont was always granted an abundance of trust, which he knew not to squander with captured moments that would sell the most money, but rather, those that spoke to Americans of the time + the events surrounding them. A for instance would be the 1976 pic below, showing the KKK around a flaming cross during one of their many routine ‘family’ gatherings.

pp3

pp4

Laffont truly managed to be that ‘fly on the wall’, with a camera, possessed by the notion of capturing true emotion + real truths. Laffont said, “They do what photos do best: freeze decisive moments in time for future examination. These photos form a personal + historical portrait of a country I have always viewed critically but affectionately + to which I bear immense gratitude.”

pp5

A book with photographs this honest, filled with important moments in American history, that have shaped this country + enriched pop culture, to what it is today, is worth coveting + a definite ‘must have’.

Katerina Jebb’s Life Size Scans Beautifully Display Galeries Lafayette’s FW/15 Collections

kwt

For Galeries Lafayette in Paris, artist Katerina Jebb created 11 life-size human scans + a video to represent the F/W 2015 collections in their windows. An A4 digital scanner, different pieces  were created, then assembled into these photo montages seen throughout. Amazing how delicate yet graphic all of these works look, right? My favorite part has to be the dark + light photos of the same body part, like the legs + shoes above.

Katerina is seen here, wearing a lot of the featured FW/15 collection designers including Carven, Chloé, Julien David, Roksanda Ilincic + Mary Katrantzou.

So if you happen to be in Paris, the installation will be on display until August 25th at the Galeries, Lafayette Blvd. Haussmann windows.
