What better way to start your morning than with a cool piece of fashion film like ‘Decrypt’ for HEMYCA Autumn/Winter 2015 for #TBT. The film encapsulates the concept of decoding + questions how the human brain processes the multitude of messages that we encounter. Featuring Judith Hill, as the HEMYCA Woman, you see her decrypting her own code in a vastness of messaging + data streams comprised of architectural details, digital art + plenty of lines.
Can you decrypt your own code by entering the HEMYCA World this early?
If you want a standout bag for the Summer, you should invest in this interesting ‘Single Heel Clutch’ by Azumi + Daviid. Besides the obvious ‘shoe heel’ design, perfect for resting your bag on any surface when you need to reapply more red lipstick, the top part is reminiscent of a vintage bag. With an oval shaped turn lock fastening + handle strap, this 100% calf hide leather bag with cotton lining, will win them over with every step it takes outside with you.
The ‘Single Heel Clutch’ is available for purchase at THE MANY SIDES.
SNEHA VARMA, the latest WOWCRACY project, is a Canadian handbag brand, for the accessible luxury market, that introduces a playful yet mysterious aesthetic; an expression inspired by what they believe to be innate qualities of a woman. But the real prize here is how easily you’ll be able to channel that Seventies vibe, that will be taking both SS/15 + AW/15 by storm.
The ‘Eviot Mini’ above seems very utilitarian, with all of its pockets + compartments, in mossy green genuine pebbled cowhide leather. With a black twill interior lining, the exterior pockets really make the bag pop, with zippered Croc embossed exterior detail + two open Interior pockets. There’s a detachable shoulder strap, along with signature zipper pulls, complete with gunmetal tone hardware handbag feet. Each bag includes its signature cotton dust bag. This bag would be great as a work bag or one to play around with to go to all your weekend brunches.
The all black ‘Margo Shoulder Bag’ on the other hand, is a lot smaller, with calf skin detail on its two magnetic exterior pockets. With a zippered 16 inch chain link shoulder strap, it also has one zippered interior pocket, with signature zipper pulls, black twill interior lining + gunmetal tone hardware. This little number would go great with both a casual or dressy look.
Finally, there’s the ‘Monaco Weekender’ with geometric front detail, in that lush mossy green color. It too has croc embossed exterior detail, with three pockets, two magnetic exterior pockets + one zippered. Luckily, it comes with an adjustable, detachable shoulder strap + like all the other bags, you’ll find both signature zipper pulls, a black twill interior lining + gunmetal tone hardware.
These days, more times than not, for any track to gain longevity, in popular culture’s consciousness, it needs to be created by an artist whose scandal outweighs their talents or by an artist whose nothing but a shepherd, with a big enough mouth only good for hating on others if not, just used to talk about nothing else but, themselves, of course. Now, when it comes to a soundtrack, the music plays many roles including how to define a scene + how to convey a mood which is what I thought of when listening to BlowinBoX.
Electronic tracks, that at times grow to epic proportions, thanks to the composition of its different beats, you can’t help but want to fiend for more. With the following three videos below, featuring visuals by Beeple + tracks by BlowinBoX, you’ll get to experience a bit of this kind of craving.
In this video for ‘Joyride’, you can’t help but think of the multilayered soundtrack for Gaspar Noe’s ‘Enter The Void’, created by Daft Punk’s Thomas Bangalter, which deals with a drug trip through a sleazy side of Tokyo (must watch!). Whereas the visuals, remind me of flying through the inside of a spaceship, looking for the docking area, while simultaneously, looking through a subway door window, spiraling into lines + lights.
With this video for ‘Megatron’, the orchestral notes heard from the underbelly of the synth sounds rising above, again makes me reference Daft Punk, but this time, from the latest ‘Tron’ flick. Besides the obvious visuals for such a comparison, this track reminds me of the scene where Jeff Bridges goes to the club to help out son + his identity disc is stolen from his back.
Finally, the simplicity of ‘Searching Futura’, is like reading a love letter to technology based on the clean track + gorgeous visuals. I love how metal gears, gauges, tubes + dials get recreated, but this time, as if made by glass. Very beautiful indeed!
Regarding Coco Chanel, photographer Douglas Kirkland once said, ‘ Chanel is here forever. She changed fashion, she changed culture, + she changed how people dress,’ + he should know, afterspending three weeks with her during 1962 + documenting those tokens of memory
in ‘Coco Chanel: Three Weeks/ 1962’, by Douglas Kirkland, published by Glitterati Incorporated. Now
Chanel considered being an extremely strong force to be reckoned with, even
bigger than her small chain-smoking frame, as Judith Thurman,
seasoned biographer +
literary giant noted in her foreword ‘if you study the poignant encounter
documented in this volume, you will discover why so many otherwise wary + artificial
idols (Marilyn, Bardot, + countless others) have let down their guard,’ adding
‘But her genius was for simplicity, + to achieve simplicity, you have to trust
your instincts. That is what she
saw – + trusted – in Douglas Kirkland.
He shoots from the heart,’ which in my opinion is the only way to do so.
Now don’t let this picture above,
of Kirkland + Chanel fool you. Kirkland,
a mere twenty seven years old + Mademoiselle Coco Seventy Nine, could not have
been more mismatched, as confidence, it would appear, did not seem to come as
naturally to the young photographer.
Besides the fact that Chanel did not trust Kirkland, it took a very
embarrassing moment to make the two close. Unaware Chanel almost became the duchess of Westminster
during her stay in England, like most Parisians of that time; Kirkland assumed
she did not speak English.
Douglas recalled, ‘Then one
morning I turned a corner in a narrow hallway at the atelier + found myself
face-to-face with her. She looked straight
at me + said, ‘ Salut.’ I froze,
not knowing how to respond. After
a beat, in her low voice, she said in perfect English, I just said hello to
you.’ From that moment on Coco
finally took a liking to the young photographer + he was given the green light
to start working.
Like many photography books on fashion
designers + their creative process, Kirklandn’s take on Chanel + her overwhelming
presence in fashion history, is beautifully captured in this book with several
pictures of her in her atelier with models, admirers + press + the occasional
candid shot taken outdoors, all while wearing her white hat which she never took
off. Yet the brilliance in these
photos also lies in how a lot of them could easily pass for modern day
editorials, even with the Sixties hairdos.
But
as a special bonus, this deluxe limited edition copy of ‘Coco Chanel: Three Weeks/ 1962’, by Douglas Kirkland,
published by Glitterati Incorporated, comes with a signed print of one of Kirkland’s photos from the
book. This title is available for
purchase at http://glitteratiincorporated.com.
There’s not a single piece from Electric Feathers SS/15 collection that you won’t fall in love with. Definitely channeling the urban nomadic feel, the concept behind Leana Zuniga’s label is to capture contemporary timelessness + versatility.
All the pieces in this collection definitely capture a contemporary timelessness + versatility with roomy silhouettes that still manage to highlight the female form.
Inspired by the elegance in all things effortless + functional, the intention is to create pieces that can be worn in many environments, including day to night or even, throughout all seasons. Working with richly textured + unique natural fabrics, like hand woven cottons + silks, designer Zuniga enjoys using hand-dyeing techniques + hand painting to create unique one of a kind pieces within each collection.
With the selection of jumpsuits, choosing one would be painful, since you’ll want all of them. I love how knotting + wrapping fabrics, either as a headdress or as a strapless bikini top paired with belted culottes, play a pivotal role in perpetuating that carefree mood, seen in every piece throughout.
Each season is an exploration of versatile + convertible silhouettes. For the Spring + Summer seasons, who wouldn’t want to feel like they’re always in control with a relaxed yet sexy wardrobe by Electric Feathers?
