These special touches include the darts by the cuffs of the blue dress above, creating the perfect star indentation, to the many different textiles.  In row 2, you have a wood grain pattern while below, wisps of chiffon actas 3D flower petals on the shirt to the pants.

One thing is certain though, if in a pinch this Halloween, you can always mimic this iteration of an antelope paired with any look.

The Seahorse, An Unlikely Spring Hair Accessory

image

I’m sure you’re probably thinking I’m crazy for even suggesting such a thing, but the idea of wearing a dead sea animal in your hair is not as crazy as you think.  For me, when I saw the seahorses above, at a shop that sold antiques, as soon as I saw their straight tails, I just imagined how beautiful they would look in my topknot, at the time.  As soon as I paid for them, they went right into my hair + they looked just as I pictured them.

Now, I will admit, their vacant eyes freaked me out a little, but once in my hair, their graphic + unique presence dispelled that fear.  I’ve considered adding a Swarovski crystal into their eye sockets or even spraying them in a metallic or high gloss paint, but figured that would compromise the integrity of the piece way too much + for that, I might as well buy a fake + plastic seahorse with visible side seams.

For Spring, I found these different hair beauty trends from NYFW Spring 2014 that could easily accommodate some seahorse-play.  Below on the left, there’s the tight chignon at Carolina Herrera, where seahorses would add that element of surprise, to such a classic + neat hairstyle.  Since my hair is now shorter than before, I will probably adopt the look on the right, of a loosely pinned-up bob at Badgley Mischka – doesn’t it look great with them in there?

image

Messy is the name of the game with these hair beauty looks – The milkmaid braids are still here to stay, as shown at Rebecca Minkoff (left).  You then have some romantic flair at Zac Posen, where you can add seahorses to the floral mix, while at Rachel Zoe, your make-shift french braid concoction perfectly embraces these dead adornments.

image

So don’t be shy or grossed out + give it a try – you won’t be disappointed.  But please note, although beautiful, they are considered to be an endangered species + if you do buy them, buy them from a shop like I did, that only had 5 at hand for sale + not a bucket full, like in some Chinese medicine spots, that are under much criticism.

Check Out The New Pamela Anderson & Her Sexy Short Haircut

image

To think Pamela Anderson could look any better is unthinkable right?  But, as seen here, with her new pixie haircut, just goes to prove how beautiful Pam really is.  Shot + interviewed by Sante d’Orazio, for Purple magazine’s SS/2014 Issue 21, he makes Pam look more like a marble statue than a real woman.

image

In his interview, D’Orazio asked Anderson how could she cut her long hair with it being such a longtime identity + she replied, ‘I love the movie Breathless by Jean Luc-Godard with Jean Seberg. It seemed like a good idea.  Fresh, European. I’ve never been into hair extensions. I have so much hair.  But it seems American women like to hold on to that long hair. It’s just not flattering forever. I also am not as attached to my ‘image.’ I actually really know who I am beyond the hair.’ image

For more on Pamela, you can read the rest of her nterview with Sante D’Orazio here but it would be better to just buy an issue for the gorgeous pictures above.

For #FlashbackFriday here’s fashion film ‘#TBT’ featuring Dominican designer Jose Duran’s AW/14 collection.  Directed by Alexander Hankoff + starring the fearless Dominican model Omahyra Mota, Patricia Mota, Jarina de Marco + Athena Mota, you’re taken on a trip down memory lane of wild fashions + the wild women that ruled them.

With an opening scene of Omahyra frying Tostones (fried plantains for those who don’t know but should try + now I’m hungry) while carrying her baby, you see her drift off into her thoughts.  Of what you ask, well, of what it was like, tearing it up, down the streets of Washington Heights with her fashionable friends before starting her family.

Things then start popping in the supermarket where you see the ladies in Duran’s intricate designs including plenty of sheer looks, beaded bungee cord jackets + leopard linings, stuffing their faces with puffed Cheetos + playing with fruit including coconuts.

As slices of memory sadly must come to an end, you then catch a brief glimpse of the ladies enjoying Dominican rum Brugal on the stoop, which jumps back to reality with Omahyra still sitting on the stoop, but this time, alone with her baby, a bottle of Dominican Country Club soda (yummy) + a bowl of Tostones.

Enjoy!

Photos That Prove Beehives Worn Over Your Face Are The Best Kind

Whenever I see an image of a person’s face covered with either fabric or in this case, hair, René Magritte‘s ‘The Lovers’ (below) comes to mind.

image

A series entitled ‘Big Head Poetry’ by photographer Maia Flore, does just that + the result is truly poetic + striking.  Maia’s portraits involve faces covered by women’s hair but then adds a tiny detail that might often adorn a beehive.  The tiny details include a flower, a hair clip or a knot.
