I don’t know about you, but I love, love, love flan, specifically Spanish flan. If you’re not familiar with what flan is, it’s basically custard. Now, the mere thought of flan makes my hips whimper + on a whim, I experimented with the ingredients below + realized, it tasted just like flan, minus the huge calories + long prep time.
For this recipe you’ll need the following ingredients:
1 sugar free packet of your choice
1 6.0z 0% Fat Chobani Plain Greek Yogurt
1 tbsp Vanilla Extract
1 spoon
Directions:
1. Open 6oz. 0% Fat Chobani Plain Greek Yogurt
2. Add Vanilla Extract
3. Add sugar
4. Take spoon + stir
5. Eat
Prep time: about 2mins, give or take a few seconds.
Now if you don’t care about counting calories, you can easily substitute the 0% Fat Chobani Plain Greek Yogurt for one with fat, but the flavor can’t be changed. If you want to get creative, change the flavor too, but I can’t guarantee it’ll taste the same. You can also substitute the artificial sweetener for regular sugar. Either way, the caloric value of these fatty subs would still not equal to the tons of calories in real flan.
Enjoy!
Sadly, Lady Gaga‘s ‘First Flying Dress’ is a great example of ‘clothes wearing you’.
For the most part, I applaud Gaga’s ability to spark conversation based simply on her fashion choices + presentation, but here, she failed miserably. Never, ever, should form be sacrificed for function!
Last night, at her latest album launch event, Gaga, as usual, made quite an entrance appearing in the ‘first flying dress’ above. Called ‘Volantis’, Gaga was strapped into a white fiberglass suit, shaped to look like a haute-couture gown + flown by six battery-powered rotors. The rotors are surrounded by white cylinders arranged hexagonally + connected to a central node above the suit, which rests on the ground using a circular stand when not in flight.
Personally, the ‘haute-couture’ gown looks more like either the torso of Botticelli’s ‘Venus’ (part of the cover art for new album ‘Artpop’) or a mannequin missing limbs, while the rotors, remind me of either lamp shades or drums. For the ‘first’ anything of it’s kind, when worn by such an influential artist, you would think it would be a lot more streamlined + stylish. Regrettably, Gaga, London company Studio XO + TechHaus, the tech division of the artist’s Haus of Gaga creative team, designed this thing.
Poor Lady Gaga, her ‘flying dress’ swallowed her whole!
The impact of a monochromatic palette is just as strong as the effect of repetition, as demonstrated above, in ‘Aspire’, the fashion film by Strictua. Yet, the aspect of color is just the ‘icing on the cake’ of this short piece. Commissioned by FASHIONCLASH Maastricht 2013, international + interdisciplinary fashion event, ‘Aspire’ tells the story about the lives experienced by creatives. Occasionally considered nomads, struggling to survive + settle their camps from time to time, they just survive to create, create, create.
Fashion film ‘It Melts’ by Gsus Lopez will make you crave ice cream NOW, if not, make YOU melt for Taeseok Kang’s gorgeous ‘Booby Bag’, which is featured throughout!
This film was commissioned by Pigeons + Peacocks Magazine to launch their Issue 6: The Catalyst.
You can purchase your very own ‘Booby Bag’ at NJAL.

Meet Super Duper’s ‘Mercurial Transformable Hat’. Handmade of 100% lapin fur felt, you get three hats in one. Zip on the brim for a chic fedora (above), wear it as a simple naval style cap (below),
or zip on the ear flaps for a cold winter’s night, as seen below.
This hat is definitely a worthy investment + would make an awesome gift for the holidays. This is what the hat looks like while deciding which one goes best with your mood or look – who thought function could look this good?
But it doesn’t stop there. The hat comes in this special designer stamped box with zipper detailed lid, which just adds to the luxe mystique inside. Cool right?
Available at Anthem Wares.
3D-printing keeps evolving more + more with the rise of various prints including jewelry, musical instruments, a race car, a bicycle + a rocket, but nothing has blurred the lines of sci-fi like these 3D-printed nose + ear replacements. Created for accident victims + people with facial disfigurements, unfortunately, it’ll take a year before they become available. According to Fripp Design + Research, normally, a hand-made prosthetic takes about ten weeks, whereas a 3D-printed nose or ear can take a mere 48hours. So I started to think how it’s just a matter of time before cosmetic surgery begins to resort to 3D-printed parts to satisfy society’s incessant need for instant gratification on looking more beautiful, if not, more perfect.
Being exhibited as part of the 3D Printshow Hospital at London’s 3D Printshow, each custom prosthesis printed with bio-compatible starch + silicone, will match the wearer’s skin color + take less than two days to produce. Fripp believes the tricky part will be getting health services on-board, but once perfected, I bet cosmetic surgeons will corner that market with a huge price tag. Can you imagine, checking out red carpet pics of celebs + checking to see which nose they accessorized their designer look with?
Soon, you’ll be able to have your 3D-printed self sitting in for you at your desk on Mondays, instead of just calling in sick.
