Channel Carine Roitfeld For Less With Her Uniqlo Collection
(pic: Liz Collins)
Considered a global fashion icon + editor, Carine Roitfeld’s recent capsule collection with Uniqlo is finally available for purchase. Roitfeld, the former Editor-in-Chief of French Vogue, + the Founder + Editor-in-Chief of CR Fashion Book, single-handedly redefined people’s eye for fashion through her legendary campaigns + signature style. Through this collection, women everywhere will be able to assume the role of the confident seductress Carine is, without even trying, by showing just enough + not baring it all.
The collection comprised of tops, bottoms, accessories, including purses + scarves, + outerwear, which all scream ‘Carine’. With a range of blacks + greys, there are several patterns to choose from, including animal prints, my favorite.
Favoring tailored silhouettes that accentuate her great figure, there’s this wonderful ‘Carine Wool Chester Coat‘. Of course, also known for her sexy sheer looks + accents, no woman should be without this great sheer ‘Carine Flocky Printed Long Sleeved Blouse‘ + interesting ‘Carine Tights‘, which look like large fishnets but with circle cutouts.

Carine is also never afraid to take risks. Able to play with pieces influenced by masculinity, this ‘Carine Tuxedo Jacket‘ is not only a classic but a must in any stylish woman’s closet. The ‘Carine Mohair Blended Sweater‘ is super fun with it’s moth attacked look, while the ‘Carine Silk Camisole Dress‘, makes for the perfect + timeless LBD.

Wearable Prints That Move With Motion
A self-confessed pattern whore, when I saw Anouk van de Sande’s range of patterned garments that produce visual effects as the wearer moves, I was more than happy to share with you all.
A graduate of Dutch Design Academy Eindhoven, Anouk’s ‘Print In Motion’ collection, is comprised of five-pieces that include matching tops + trousers, catsuits, a dress + a long coat. Each item contains multiple layers of fabric which provide the movement seen throughout.
Unlike using vibrating colors to create the illusion of movement, Anouk took it a step further telling dezeen, “I was thinking about making prints even more heavy in expression while wearing. I researched visual + theatrical effects + came out on optical illusions in prints,” + very successfully I might add, which you’ll be able to see for yourself in the fashion film below.
There’s a stripe-patterned black + white catsuit (above) – made from an elasticated material to fit the body – with an accompanying transparent PVC jacket with stripes in contrasting directions. As the lines move past each other, the patterns create a visual effect known as moiré. Other looks use layers of voile or tulle fabric with graphic dots or stripes to create shifting pattern effects, which van de Sande hopes to develop further for use in stage performances.
But what I see in all this is how these different moving prints can truly celebrate a positive female body image. With the various moving prints, no matter the woman’s size, they will accentuate any curve with interest + make her feel beautiful, with every step she takes.

Crushing Hard On Adele’s New Video For ‘Hello’
Check out Adele‘s return, with her video for new track ‘Hello’, off her new album ’25’. Having admitted to this being the last album she names after her age, in an interview on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 radio show, no matter what she calls her albums, you’re always guaranteed a good ride or a good cry. In this case, it’s both, as the track deals with heartache + begging for forgiveness. And my girl STILL has those gorgeous nails!
Directed by the hot Xavier Dolan, the sepia-toned story unfolds in the countryside of Montreal, featuring Tristan Wilds (The Wire, The Secret Life of Bees). Dolan told pitchfork, “It was a privilege to direct the music video for Adele’s beautiful, heartbreaking song,” adding, “When I first heard it, all the images were already running by so clearly in my head + her trust and generosity allowed me to create freely. Being on set with her was wonderful. And the thought of directing her in the ‘acting’ aspect of the term was exciting. I discovered that she’s a very talented actress -no matter what she’ll tell you.”
’25’, on XL Recordings, is due to drop Nov. 20th.
Enjoy!

Brooklyn Pride Experienced Through It’s Many Food + Drink Artisans
Chef, Author + TV Host Anthony Bourdain said, “Everywhere you go, whether you’re in Austria or England or Paris even, they’re referencing Brooklyn in some way…arguably, we’re looking at the Brooklynization of the world at this point”, an evolution which could not be better cataloged than in ‘Made In Brooklyn: An Essential Guide To The Borough’s Artisanal Food + Drink Makers ’ by Susanne König + Melissa Schreiber Vaughn, with photos by Heather Weston, published by powerHouse Books. Bursting with Brooklyn pride, König + Vaughn take your through 28 Brooklyn hoods introducing you to the various artisanal food + drink makers, searing Brooklyn into the map of any foodie’s paradise, if not just anyone who appreciates great drinks + eats.
Nunu Chocolates | Year Established : 2007 | Owners: Justine Pringle and Andy Laird Product: Chocolate bars, ganaches, caramels Website: nunuchocolates.com
Acme Smoked Fish | Year Established : 1954 | Owners: Caslow Family Product: Smoked Fish Website: acmesmokedfish.com
With a focus on both artisanal food + drink makers throughout the Brooklyn area, no one neighborhood prides itself on one specialty. All throughout Brooklyn, you can find pretty much anything your mind can think up + your taste buds desire including candy, spirits, baked goods + even smoked fish. But apart from celebrating the many food + drink artisans of this borough, you can’t help but truly fall in love with Brooklyn the way that all those described within this book have if not, find a new appreciation for the place.
Bagel Hole | Year Established : 1986 | Owner: Phil Romanzi Product: Old-School Bagels
Bellocq Tea Atelier | Year Established : 2010 | Owners: Heidi Johannsen Stewart and Michael Shannon Product: Tea
Website: bellocq.com
Yet what will really resonate with many readers is how plenty of these artisans started their businesses not out of necessity but just out of pure love, which is plainly obvious in Sunset Park’s One Girl Cookies, where gem sized cookies are displayed on silver trays in a glass case. Then you have others that resort to a sense of humor like Greenpoint’s Café Grumpy, after the inspo of a cantankerous-looking coffee bean.
Salvatore BKLYN | Year Established : 2007 | Owner: Betsy Devine Product: Whole Milk Ricotta Website: salvatorebklyn.com
Featuring more than 110 different Brooklyn makers + over 1,000 original photographs shot by Heather Weston, this is a book that is a must have for anyone who loves food + entrepreneurs alike. But I must warn you, do not read this book on an empty stomach-You will regret it.

To Love Rust Is To Love These Shoes
To place your gaze on a pair of shoes by Bucharest’s own Bianca Georgescu, you can’t help but marvel at how much they look as if they’ve been compromised by time + the elements, resulting in such beauty. A lover of finding beauty in detritus, these shoes spoke to me on many levels having been inspired by the effect of ‘rust’.
Just look at Georgescu’s ‘Wolfgran Structured High Heels‘ below. With the shoe having a cream base color, which already depicts a ‘dirty’ color, featuring a unique ‘rusty’ open sculptured heel, sitting under the natural printed leather, just makes this shoe look good from any angle.
With these ‘Wolframite Laser Cut Shoes‘, made from a natural printed leather, featuring a thick sole with an upper embellished with laser-cut details, although inspired by rust, these look more like splattered paint to me.
Now to look at both the ‘Redox Shoes‘ + the ‘Arsenopyrite Shoes‘ below, you can’t help but think about Italian artist Gaetano Pesce, known for his use of resin, amongst other things. It’s as if resin + silicone were poured into a shoe mold then embellished with ‘rusty’ leather.
For me, all of these shoes are favorites.

How To Wear Your Fendi Monster Farfetch Style
This Halloween, why not celebrate it, Farfetch style, by dressing up with one of Fendi’s Monsters instead of wearing a costume? The iconic Fendi Monster, is luxury at its best, combining great style with a sense of humor. Characterized by colorful fur, peekaboo or menacing monstrous eyes + large fluffy eyebrows, it’s since evolved from the coveted Bag Bug keyrings, to a complete range including backpacks, jackets + more, like these cool shoes below.
Truth be told, even the classic Fendi Baguette couldn’t escape getting a Bag Bug makeover either. Now with Farfetch having a sick selection of clothing + accessories, I pulled together this fun look that would best highlight the Fendi Bag Bugs Sandals below, in black + yellow leather + fox fur. This look is a play on texture.
To add more whimsy to the Bag Bugs Sandals, I paired a Filles A Papa Sequined Crop Top embellished with golden sequins, to be worn over this Comme Des Garçons Comme Des Garçons Stripe Appliqué Shirt, with a blue + white stripe on the sides. Now to play around with silhouette a bit, these navy Tsumori Chisato Wide Leg Trousers, with a cropped fit, would perfectly compliment the slim fit of the shirt + its sequined overlay. Lara Bohinc’s ‘Planetaria’ Earrings have just the right amount of edge, as simple as they are. Made of Sterling silver + gold vermeil, featuring a butterfly fastening, the earrings have a translucent quartz bead caged in a sculptural curved frame, inspired by elegant lines of Copernicus’ astronomical model, while suspended on a fine chain. To add more interest to Alexander McQueen’s Box Clutch in bordeaux leather with gold tone hardware, Majesty Black’s Nail Covers in black + gold tone leather would definitely make for a great conversation starter, if not, give you luxe monster claws. Of course, no look would be complete without a great coat, especially one like this navy MSGM Astrakan Coat, in a cotton blend. What I particularly love about this coat for this ensemble is how great it would look buttoned or not.
So head on over to Farfetch + start bugging!
