With Valentine’s day soon upon us, not all of us can really breathe it all in, because let’s face it, not everyone’s in love. But for those with broken hearts, rather than wearing their hearts on their sleeves, what about wearing their emotions? Usually, when one thinks of the hopeless romantic getting their heart broken, the picture of crying eyes + runny noses comes to mind. But to personify these emotions through fine jewelry no less is quite a feat indeed, but not for some talented designers. Take jewelry designer Ileana Makri’s ‘Crying Eyes’ series above. You have the 18K ‘Crying Eye Necklace‘ with Tsavorites, black + white diamonds + blue sapphires. Then you have her 18K White Gold ‘Angry Tear Studs‘ with black diamonds, blue sapphires, white diamonds – oxidized on the stones. Another variation on the ‘Crying Eye’, is Makri’s 18K White Gold ‘Weeping Eyes‘ with white + Black Diamonds + Tsavorites oxidized on the stones.
And if you know heartache, with all the crying comes a runny nose + that’s where Italian jeweler Schield comes in. There’s Schield’s ‘Dripping Nose‘ pendant on a gold chain, a ‘Dripping Noses‘ bracelet, a ‘Dripping Noses‘ ring + surprise, ‘Dripping Noses‘ earrings.
Of course, like anything else, everything is open to interpretation, so broken hearted or not, all of these pieces are a ‘must’ addition to your accessories collection.
Allie X‘s new video for ‘Catch’ is full of glitchy goodness. After breaking onto the scene last year + with Katy Perry tweeting her love for single that Spring, this artist has nowhere to go but up. Directed by Jérémie Sandoin, with various art references including Allie dangling from the ceiling with bars poking through her as a Maurizio Cattelan work of art or as a Damien Hirst anatomical model, in seeing the artist tangled up with nudes, while having her face covered as in a pagan ritual, you can’t help but continue to get lost in all the delicious cryptic details in her video. Yet for as much as it’s full of weird imagery, it is still beautiful + compliments Allie’s vocals perfectly. Can’t wait to see what this artist comes up with next, thankfully, as unique as she is!
For more of Allie X, go to her interactive project ”Xart”.
Her new album ‘CollXtion I’, is set to drop in April, featuring three songs she’s already posted on Soundcloud + four new ones.
Enjoy!

When you mix New Yorkers Flizzo, Opt, Jay Donn, Sedo + Danny, contorting their bodies in their east Brooklyn style of street dance called flexing, made famous by the 2013 documentary, ’Flex Is Kings’, with the afrobeat sound invented by Nigerian Fela Kuti, you get short ‘Fela Flex’ directed by Dominick Sheldon. Shot in a dark studio space, with the dancers perfectly lit, personifying each sound they hear with their every move, you can’t loving this film, no matter how short.
Okayafrica, the sister platform to the Okayplayer channel, launched by The Roots drummer, producer + record archivist, Questlove came up with the idea to mix flex-men with the classic Fela track “Zombie”, which perfectly compliments the dancers’ staccato yet fluid moves, with the fusion of jazz, funk + African rhythms.
Okayafrica producer Allison Swank told NOWNESS, ‘We saw Flizzo + Jay Donn in ‘Flex Is Kings’ + were inspired when we witnessed their live performances,’ adding, ‘With this film, we wanted to introduce new audiences to older sounds from Africa. It aims to show the positive, contemporary story of the continent.’
Enjoy!

Inspired by the cage of the Champagne’s cork, jewelry designer Isla Fontaine’s ‘Cage Ring’ is sure to spark up conversation wherever you go. As Fontaine’s first fine jewelry piece, you can’t help but be in awe of the look of this ring.
Handcrafted by Italian goldsmiths, this beautiful ring features a stunning amethyst stone within a gold cage of green tourmalines. I just love the great contrasts of this ring – You have a large stone held together by thin jewel encrusted crisscrossing bands + then there’s the green + purple palette. What’s not to love, right? But as with most fine jewelry, this little number could do double duty as an accessory you can wear with a super chill outfit + a sexy one for a night out.
The ‘Cage Ring’ by Isla Fontaine is available for purchase at Wowcracy.
For Moschino’s Pre-Fall collection, Jeremy Scott once again triumphed in having fun with the label, but this time, by dumping out the Atelier like a purse + finding inspiration in everything contained therein. There were gowns with yellow measuring tape ruffle + bow details as well as a cute jacket with large graphic numbers trailing down the front. Of the many dresses in the collection, a couple had a blown up clothing label + a dry cleaning receipt, as a beautiful all over print, while a black dress emblazoned with three iron burns across the front + the words ‘Do Not Iron’ with the corresponding laundry symbol on its back, would turn out a femme fatale or two. Overall, there was not one piece, out of the whole collection, I did not like.
