Indoor Plants Prove To Be The Perfect Print For Spring

image

Created by Hungarian designer DORITOMCSANYI, this digital print of Indoor Plants is unlike any botanical print I’ve seen before.  Sure, I’ve seen these plants or their leaves before, but never was the planter included, which is what makes this print so special.  Part of the SS/14 ‘Panel’ collection, this ‘Indoor Plants Long Silk Skirt’, with two pockets + an elastic waistband, could easily be paired with a similar A-line cami or even a cropped top, in a ‘harder’ material like a light sweatshirt.

If you prefer something a bit shorter, there’s this great silk ‘Indoor Plants Layered Dress’.  Sleeveless, with asymmetric layering + a round neckline, you can almost taste that mojito the model is hiding in her left hand.

Clothes That Prove To Be Heavy Without All The Beadwork

image

I would love to come home + find this marble shirt above on my coffee table – it’s the perfect piece of contemporary sculpture.  Artist Alasdair Thomson cleverly created a series of clothing made entirely out of marble called ’The Identity Collection’.

image

It’s just amazing how every fold + every drape, is perfectly carved into these pieces of marble, creating realistic renditions of something that’s otherwise soft.

Other pieces in the collection include marble dresses, t-shirts + sneakers.

Tavi Gevinson x Minna Gilligan on Nowness.com

Wake up with the visual one on one between ROOKIE‘s Tavi Gevinson + Illustrator Minna Gilligan‘s, for the fifth printed issue of ‘Printed Pages’from the totes amaze online platform, ‘It’s Nice That’.

In 2010, Tavi herself created ROOKIE, the teen-focused online zine, now with a second issue of it’s printed edition, with a reach of over four-million readers per week.  Part of ROOKIE’s global network of contributors, Gilligan’s colorful patterned backdrops set the stage for an interesting conversation about the web + real-life for NOWNESS.

What’s the one internet habit you have no intention of breaking?
Tavi:
Just, like, tweeting things and then being like “ugh, why? Ugh, I hate myself” and deleting them after.”

Minna:I have a lot of internet habits, most of them bad. My most crazy one is obsessively checking eBay auctions even if I’m not bidding on it or anything. I love a bargain, so if it’s like the last five seconds of an auction I don’t want to miss out on something I don’t need.

You’re editing your fantasy issue of Rookie, Who are your fantasy contributors, dead or alive?
T:
That’s so hard, ok—Beyoncé. Emily Dickinson would be great, Frida Kahlo and Zadie Smith. Madonna if we could go back a bit, before shit went down.

If you were a social media platform, what would you be and what’s trending?
M:
It would be kind of a logistical nightmare to become a social-media platform as a human but I’ll bypass that and say that I’d probably be Instagram. I like the cleanness of it and the ability it gives you to curate this totally perfect rose-tinted dream world.

What do you consider to be the greatest internet invention?
T:
@Seinfeld200 is my favourite Twitter account. It’s my favourite internet invention by far.

Enjoy!

Musical Instruments Disguised As Porcelain Jewelry

Imagine wearing a necklace you could blow into or a bangle you could shake as a tambourine, simply to make music?  Enter, Audiowear by elasticbrand, a series of musical jewelry inspired by idiophone aerophone instruments + the acoustic quality of clay.

And aren’t they just so considerate, including a thimble for the ‘Guiro Cuff’ + a mini Mallet for the ‘Xylophone Bangles’, to play them whenever the music moves you, no matter where you are.  But that ‘Diamond Rattle Bracelet’ is killer with the white + gold colorway.

‘Sweet Like Candy’ Editorial Is Sure To Give You A Sweet Tooth

With photography + art direction by Riccardo Dubitante  + styled by Claudio Massimo bui for kaltblut magazine, flirty simple eccentricity is clearly the mood here.

Dresses by Daizy Shely at times look like pulled taffy if not cotton candy.  Meanwhile, hair bows by CORSINELABEDOLI look like they’re made of a hard + shiny Starburst.

A Tearful Farewell For House Music’s Godfather, Frankie Knuckles

Yesterday, the legendary Chicago DJ + Producer Frankie Knuckles passed away + it’s hard to keep my tears back while I type this.  Luckily, I’ve had the pleasure of sharing the dance floor with many fellow house heads while Knuckles turned it out at the turntables.  Knuckles was also an amazing producer, as you’ll hear below.   Not only was he talented, but a kind person as well.

To have lost such an innovative talent like Knuckles, is just plain sad, but I’m sure he’ll be werqing it like only he could, up in heaven.  R. I. P. Frankie.

Now have a listen to some of my favorite songs + remixes by Frankie Knuckles:
